Take the train from Connersville to Metamora. The trains stops next to the mill. Nice place to shop for antiques when the shops are open.

The grist mill is just one attraction in the scenic/historic/tourist trap-ic town of Metamora, IN. The historic (1830s) Whitewater Canal is the impetus for the tub wheel that powers the mill. A horse-drawn recreated canalboat sells half-hour rides some days of the week in summer. Antique, trinket and souvenir shops make up most of the town. Well-kept public bathrooms are available. Signage a mile away hints that at times the place is so popular that parking is a problem. Not at all so during my Tuesday in mid-September visit. In fact nothing was happening, and few, if any, stores were open.

We took the train from Connersville down to Metamora for Mother's Day. We stopped by the Grist Mill and it was really neat. You could go under the first floor to look at all the wheels and gears. They had a little gift shop on the first floor and employees there to answer questions. Outside you could see the waterwheel and the canal. It was really cool.
