For a state park, room was good; only downside was heat source too close to the bed. Gathering room at lodge was great....plenty of space with very nice fireplace. Hiking trails are outstanding in the park.

Room Tip: I would suggest a room with double beds or larger

We took our high school Madrigal group to Turkey Run State Park Nov. 22-24th. We reserved 6 cabin rooms and The Roost. We also reserved the Strauss room so the group could prepare for their upcoming Madrigal dinner and competition season. I am not sure where to start to thank the staff of the inn for their hospitality towards our entire group. From the excellent accommodations to the excellent food....and saving me from my garlic bread mistake.... they were all outstanding. A special thanks to Kristina Hale for setting this all up for us to Mitch for making sure the kids got the garlic bread they were promised....It was a trip full of a lifetime of memories.

As to the accommodations.....the rooms were clean and well-kept. The Roost is a 2 bedroom one bath cabin/house. While it is technically located outside the park, there is a great access road you can walk between the Inn and The Roost. We cooked 3 meals there for about 25 people each time. The kitchen is very well equipped for such gatherings. There was a wonderful dining room that sat 8 people and the kids sat around in the living room as well. In warmer weather there is a wonderful covered deck with a table and chairs and there is a fire pit behind the roost....It was not so usable late in the year due to it getting too dark and not enough lighting...and it is down a bit of a hill from the cabin so in the spring/summer months the fire pit would be awesome.

The food in the inn was excellent. The variety was wonderful. And thanks to the waitresses who made us all very special hot chocolate at the end of our lunch on Sunday.

And a big shout out goes to the waitrers and waitresses who invited our group to sing in the dining room on two occasions. Your support of the student's efforts was greatly appreciated.

Room Tip: Loved the cabin rooms and The Roost.

We stayed in the lodge on this past Saturday night. The desk personnel were very helpful and friendly. They couldn't check us in until after 3pm, but when we got checked in it went fast.

The room was very clean, a little dated but comfortable. A new flat panel LG tv with limited cable channels. The hotel was quiet and we slept well.

We ate the next morning at the inn restaurant. The food was cold and not appetizing at all. My girlfriend got sick to her stomach and we both feel it was the breakfast.

We stayed at the Inn over Xmas with family. We have eaten the holiday buffet a couple of times. Typical Midwestern fare but the building and location are amazing. We have gone to this state park since I was about eight years old. Now we live 2000 miles away but try to get back with family every now and then

Room Tip: They all looked good to us with great views.

We just returned from a 2 day stay at the Turkey Run Inn. First of all the hiking is wonderful and the park is beautiful. However, the Inn looks tired and is in need of some improvements. The room we stayed in had 2 queen beds and was adequate. The buffet was a joke, way overpriced, it was $13.95 per person, and the food was horrible. Everything was bland, overcooked and tasted like it had been sitting there awhile. Dinner runs from 5:00-8:00, and we arrived at 6:00. The fried chicken was extremely dry, could not even eat it. The other meat choice was plain, boneless, skinless chicken breast which looked like they just boiled it and threw it into the serving pan, no seasoning. The biscuits were rock hard, unable to eat them as well. Nothing was fresh. Even with the horrible dinner experience we thought perhaps breakfast would be better. It wasn't, it was the same experience. Brown scrambled eggs, watery grits, the gravy was burnt, very greasy bacon, breakfat casserole was burnt on top and on the bottom, but at least the biscuits were fairly soft, unlike at the dinner service. Breakfast was $8.95 per person. My recommendation is to not eat from the buffet. You can order off the menu, possibly the food would be fresher. I would recommend eating at a restaurant called Up the Creek, which is down the road from the Inn. They are open from May through the end of Oct. The food was excellent and well priced. Also, be aware that there is no service for AT & T, there is WIFI, but it was so slow we were unable to access it.

A friend and I stayed at the Turkey Run Inn at Turkey Run State Park recently. The Inn is very delightful - focus of course on wildlife and specifically birds. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The restaurant was open, but due to the day and time of year had only soup and salad bar on the smorgasboard. There was also a full menu to choose from though. We did the soup and salad bar - very extensive selection and their creamy onion soup was delicious!

We had a great time at Turkey Run Inn. We went with a large family group and everyone was happy. The hotel was really nice for a state park lodge. The rooms were clean and had plenty of space. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Hiking the beautiful trails was great. It will be even better once the suspension bridge opens. Hiking around it added about an hour to the hike. But it is nice they offer a shuttle, that definitely made it doable. All the employees we interacted with were courteous and gave great service.
