We picked this hotel because of the pool and spa and cost. We were looking forward to getting into the spa after a long day of college visits and long drives. thankfully the beds were comfortable, although, the room did smell like it was a former smoking room (not strong smell, but a light lingering odor).

One thing that needs to be improved on is the supply in the breakfast area. Eventhough there were only 5 people there, everything was in short supply; we even needed to tip the waffle batter over to get the last of it out. We saw the rush of people going out the door in the morning and decided to wait another 20 minutes so it could be resupplied before going down. Alas, not the case.

As of this writing, (April 15, 2014) there is a vinyl sign over the days inn sign which is difficult to see at night. If you are following a GPS, the property is where you are being directed to.

Over all, I would recommend this hotel to stay at because it is of a better value than other area hotels.

Room was clean, quite and comfortable to us. The motel was not far from freeway access which was a plus for us. The breakfast that was provided was adequate. We enjoyed our nights stay and do recommend this motel.

I pulled off the interstate in a snowstorm during a cross country move looking for a safe place to rest for my family and pets. I was thankful that this hotel was open and available and accepting of said pets. But why? Why give us the room with the cracked vanity and torn furniture and stained carpet? The room looked like the room where all the furniture from the rest of have hotel went to die. So we were safe and dry, yes, but in some way it felt like we were punished too. For the pets we had with us.

We booked a double queen, and when we checked in, they upgraded us to a double queen suite for free since it was available. This room would have cost several times more.
Disclaimer: when I went early October 2013, the big sign outside says "Days Inn" with a totally unobvious (at night) drape over it that looks like a handwritten "America's Best Value Inn." We didn't notice that until we drove up right next to it.

A short, two- day stay in Marion made it necessary to select a place of lodging. Marion doesn’t have many hotels, so the selection is limited, but America’s Best Value Inn seemed to suit our minimal needs.

This hotel and suites covers most of the basics. The rooms have two large beds, a small living area with a fold- out sofa bed, two televisions, mini- refrigerator, and microwave. The space inside isn’t very large, but it is large enough to satisfy a family of three or four. Outside the room, guests will find a small indoor pool and hot tub, vending machines, an exercise room, and a business center. They also serve a complimentary breakfast each day so you can wake up, grab a bite to eat, and get on your way.

So, the minimums are covered and that is nice. But the problem with this roughly 60- room place of lodging is that minimum seems to apply in most every sense of the word. I already pointed out the smaller size of the suites, but that is only the beginning. The exercise room has only two pieces of exercise equipment and two dumbbells. The pool and hot tub are small and there are minimal chairs to sit on around the pool. The business center has only one computer. The view from the suites isn’t much, with one side looking squarely at a small batch of trees and the other side looking at the state route highway. And the free breakfast? Well, they cut corners by serving microwaved foods. The best bet is to eat the cereal since it at least tastes just like what you eat at home.

Does all of this make America’s Best Value Inn a bad place to stay? Not at all- it just isn’t anything impressive. I did find the personnel helpful although one woman at the front desk was prone to making inappropriate, unprofessional statements. When everything is added up, you have an average place of lodging that is priced appropriately. There are few places to stay in Marion and this one is likely as good as any, so enjoy the minimums offered at America’s Best Value Inn. It could be better, but it could also be worse so grin, bear it, and make the most of your limited stay.
