Great tour guides, great tours, amazing sites.... I highly recommend! Don't let the price scare you, it is totally worth it. You will remember this tour the rest of your life. Beautiful formations in the caves, a nice pace of tour and lots of stops with info. They seem to keep saying how cold it is before you go but don't worry temp inside on a hot summer day is very nice and there is no breeze down there so it feels good.

Thanks for coming to visit Marengo Cave. Glad it was worth the trip and money. The nice thing about the temperature in the cave 52 decrees in the summer time you can take a tour to cool off. In the winter you take the tour to warm up. Come back to see us the next time your in the area

We have been in about a dozen or so show caves over the last few years (my husband likes them and I have 2 boys ages 10 and 12) - so we have some experience looking at caves. I purchased the internet combo special for $66 for all 4 of us to do both tours - Dripstone Trail and Crystal Palace. A 2 hr total tour. (You actually go on 2 separate tours though when you get there.) We went on Dripstone first, and it was beautiful! Lots of interesting and unique formations, some we haven't seen at caves that we have been to before. The only gripe about the Dripstone tour (and I guess about both tours in general) was that there wasn't very much history provided about the cave. We like learning about how the cave was found, its history through the years, etc. Not much was given about this on the tour. The tour guide was ok, but she didn't give very much information like this, and was vague with some of the questions we asked.

The Crystal Palace tour was much shorter, and it did have a few nice areas, but didn't compare to the Dripstone. To me, it looks like this could be one long tour (maybe an hour fifteen, or hour and a half), but to make more money, they split it up into two different tours. If I wouldn't have gotten the internet combo deal, I definitely would have skipped the Crystal Palace tour. We ended up spending about 3 hours here between the 2 tours, gift shop, and just walking around taking photos of the signs, etc.

Glad you you came to see our Beautiful Marengo cave. We do have a few new guides this summer. We train them, then work with them to give a tour with a lot of information. Sorry the guide didn't tell about the history of the cave. We divide the cave into two tours because some people only have time for one side. The formations on the Crystal Palace side are a lot larger and this is entrance where the two children discovered the cave. We have a nice gift shop and setting area out side. Thanks, for coming.

The cave is a very nice one and an easy walk. They have divided the cave so they can charge twice. As caves go it was nice but a little expensive. We only went on one of the tours (Crystal Palace Tour) because of cost. it was about 30 min. tour. The cave is privately owned. There is also the Dripstone Trail Tour and you can do a cave crawl

We are so glad you liked the Marengo Cave. It is one cave. but each side looks totally different. We divided into two tours, because some people only have time for one side. It makes it easier for younger children and older adults to break up the tours in two parts. Then they can rest between the the tours. We do offer $6.00 off what the two tours would be separately for adults. We have some coupons on our web site that helps with the cost also. Thanks for stopping by, if you are back in the area again stop and see the Dripstone Trail.

We went on the Dripstone tour at Marengo Caves. It took about an hour and there was so much to see and learn. It has lots of formations: drapes, soda straws, stalagtites, stalagmites, columns, etc. The guides were very informative and even offered to snap a family photo. It was a rainy dreary day on land but underground it was a serene 52 degrees. We had a guest from Canada with us who thought it was amazing and my 7 year old wants to live in a cave forever. He can't wait til he's old enough to go on on the explorer's trip where he can get filty dirty.

Thanks for stopping in to see the Marengo Cave. We train our guides so they can give you useful information about the cave. Bring you 7 year old back when he turns 10 years old to do the icaving 1. We do this every Saturday during the summer. We have a shower to clean up after you get filthy dirty. Just bring the soap. Look forward to seeing your family in the future.
