“A family favorite”

Absolutely love Clifty Inn.

The rooms are always clean, well appointed and comfy!
Our family has stayed at Clifty Inn every year for over 20 years. We've been there when the old buildings were around, and the old outdoor pool (which we miss), and through all the new construction. It is a wonderful place to stay.

Very quiet, family oriented and dependable.
We see the same housekeepers every year (the sisters) and the front desk staff is always friendly.

We keep coming back year after year and we always enjoy it. Yes, the buffet never seems to change, but its always good. The kids and adults always have a good time.

And in response to the " Our room was robbed", for over 20 years we have never once had an incident like that. And we leave money, wallets, watches, purses and other valuables out most of the time. We have found the entire staff to be honest and trustworthy and I really can not believe that anyone of those kind people that work there could possibly steal.

Clifty Inn is a great place to stay and we keep coming back. We love it!
And Clifty Creek Power Plant just adds to the charm of the Inn. If you don't like the smoke stacks, look the other way down the river for your view. Its just a part of the charm.

We went to Madison for a weekend getaway and to celebrate our 8th anniversary.

We were very impressed with the quality of our room; we had a room overlooking the river and the town and it was nicely decorated and very pleasant - especially considering how inexpensive the rate was. One thing to keep in mind; there is a rather large power plant right near the Inn. It didn't really bother us, and I could block the view, but my husband kept making jokes about Mordor...

We ate dinner and breakfast at the Inn - both meals were buffets, which isn't normally our style. What was offered was very "comfort-food". If you are expecting fine dining, you will be disappointed...so be happy with good biscuits and fried chicken!

I noticed one reviewer commented on the lack of waterfalls in the park, which we experienced as well: there was a drought most of last year that was so bad that no there was no water going over any of the Falls, and there was a burn ban throughout the park. I'm sure things are back to normal now though - it's a lovely area.

  • Liked — Location, room was great, value
  • Disliked — The power plant is a bit of a bummer

My family stayed at the Inn for a weekend in October. Besides the fact that Clifty Falls is almost a misnomer as the falls is rarely visible other than a trickle, we ended up very upset about our visit. At first we were impressed with the rooms and facilities. But since our room was robbed while at a meal, just before check out, I would like to warn others of the problem.

We feel others should be aware of this very real problem.

This was a last minute trip, hotel rooms in the area were essentially sold out. Was not sure what we'd end up with here and was very pleasantly surprised!! Room was spacious, beds were comfortable. Fridge and microwave in room. Nice bathroom. Everything was very clean. Did the breakfast buffet in the morning. I'm not normally a fan of buffets but this one was very plentiful, everything from eggs and breakfast meats to waffles, french toast, grits, oatmeal, breads and pastries as well as tons of fruit. All was hot and fresh. Price was only $7.99 so it didn't really make sense to order from the menu for only a dollar or so less when you could have such a variety. Very nice lodge, would recommend!

For the price , we expected a motel 6 kind of hotel. We got a nice room--in the older section--with some really wonderful touches of decor. A bit dark, but interesting. We had a park view. it is harder to get the river view--book ahead. Everyone was wonderfully friendly and the Madison area is a great place to vist.
The state park is really good and Madison is a nice and fun place--the folk festival was excellent.

The Clifty Inn is a great place! I travel very frequently for business, and I have to say that the Clifty Inn far surpasses every property I have stayed in for at least the last year. The lodge is beautiful, the suite I had was huge, had real hard wood floors, real tile, a huge bathroom, and great features, even the smallest of details. The Inn offers several common areas, with games, books, toys for all age kids, fireplaces, etc. The views are great from the rooms, there is a ton to do in the park. Even the restaurant is good, and very, very affordable (Saturday night prime rib/fried chicken buffett for $10.99!). I can't say enough about the Clifty Inn, it is top rate!
