“best of the Lawrenceburg area casinos”
Reviewed February 10, 2012

I've gone to all the casinos and like the Hollywood Casino Hotel the best. The rooms are adequate in size as you don't plan on spending much time in them. Everything is nicely kept and the employees are friendly. The Casino is the biggest suprise as it rivals some Vegas hotels. Very spacious and lots of things to play and watch. It is also beautifuly apointed and designed.

We've been going here for about two years for the casino. We tried to stay at the hotel in our first year but it was way too expensive. We ended up earning our way to free nights with the casino play.
The casino is very sharp and clean. The hotel rooms are adequate. Try to ask for a room that DOESNT face the railroad track. One night we had 3 trains go by b/w 3am and 7am. There was no sleeping through them. They said it was rare that they come by so late, which I believe, as we've stayed here about 10 times in the past 18 months and it's only happened once.
So if you wanna goto the casino, and you haven't earned any comp rooms, stay somewhere else, b/c it's not worth $125 a night. Unfortunately there isn't much around either. I would recommend staying in Covington or Florence Kentucky. There are some nice hotels there which is about 10 minutes away.

Room Tip: ry to ask for a room that DOESNT face the railroad track. One night we had 3 trains go by b/w 3am a...

Food sized rooms that could use a cosmetic update. Reliable WiFi. Good selection of tv options. The biggest beef is that there are no services like bars or food in the hotel. You have to take a hike to the casino for food or drink. And oh yeah, very loud freight trains run just outside the hotel at random all through the night.

My husband and I stayed at the Hollywood Casino last Tuesday night. The staff was friendly and check-in was easy. We have stayed here a few times before as well. The hotel was clean, but the rooms always seem on the small side. There is also only one type of room from which to choose and is called the Deluxe. Wish the hotel had larger rooms available, but there is a nice large LED television in the room. The bathroom was also on the small side with little counterspace on which to put overnight tolietries. Bed comfort is very important to me. On an earlier trip, I could not easily sleep because the bed was not comfortable. The bed this time also felt like it had the same lower quality mattress, but I did sleep better. I should not complain though since the nightly rate was very reasonable.
The casino is very large and on two different floors. It was lively and many varied table and video games were available. I liked the little bar on the bottom floor since it had video blackjack available which many casinos do not. Payouts seemed typical of most casinos we have visited. Win some, then play more until you've lost the winnings and a bit more than that.
What I did like a great deal was the restaurant in which we had dinner. It was at the Final Cut Steakhouse. The prices were somewhat high (as are most Vegas casinos), but the food and service was very good. However, the breakfast buffet was a huge disappointment. The waitresses were very nice, but the food was bland with little variety. I would suggest perhaps the Hollywood & Grind instead for a quick coffee and pastry.
We will probably return to the hotel but not very soon.

I've played many slots all over and these are the worst as far as giving any kind of payback. Very tight all thru the casino and no loose machines. Nickel slot are very few and even those don't let you win. Avoid this place unless you enjoy the decor and want to lose maoney.
Other reviews of Hollywood casinos say the same thing, tight slots.

They have a car giveaway so 1 person wins big and everyone else loses. Stupid.

We did not stay at the hotel. I sure wish I had read these reviews before we wasted our money. We went to the buffett. The price was $14.99 for lunch. It was soooo not worth it. The food was luke warm. There wasn't much to choose from. Only about three items were good (to me). They are suppose to be changing over to The Epic Buffet. There's an Epic Buffet in Tunice Ms at the Hollywood Casino and the food is very good. Hopefully it will be just as good there. I'll make sure that I do what I should have done this time and that's ask to see the buffett first.
