It was a nice hotel. I could have my dog there, which comes in handy since I'll need to stay in La Porte many nights this next year. There is room service, Starbuck's, and a restaurant. There is a microwave and refrigerator. The bed is really comfortable.

We chose the Best Western because we have stayed here before. It is a fairly reasonable hotel, who honors the AAA discount which helps with the pricing some. Their beds and pillows are SO comfortable. They also had a pool which was nice because we had some down time to kill and were able to relax in the hot tub for a while. The staff is friendly and prompt, and it's just an overall nice hotel chain with decent prices. We always know to check if there is a Best Western in town before we check the competition, because Best Western will always win.

Great value; comfortable, quiet, spacious room. Excellent breakfast dining experience. Personable, efficient wait staff. The facility was booked solidly. The parking lot was absolutely full. In spite of the crowd, the well-trained staff in its entirety did their jobs so efficiently that it was a pleasure to be such a small part of a well orchestrated experience.

Looks like a good place for conferences, not so much for a couples stay. The owners spent a lot of money on the enclosed central area, with faux Mexico decor, rather than on the smallish rooms. Probably more enjoyable in the winter. Enclosed spa and pool area was excellent, with natural wood interior. Well-equipped fitness center. No free breakfast, but other options nearby. Our room on the third floor had some minor plumbing issues, with microbursts of hot and cold shower water, and hydraulic toilets that operated with a vigorous FWOOSH. The hotel is just a block or two from Pine Lake, but you would never know it without a map. A nearby park is a nice place for a lakeside picnic in summer.

One of the main reasons for giving this hotel excellent marks was because of the dining on site. On check-in was given breakfast vouchers and a 1/2 price appetizer coupon. Getting in late, we decided to give the restaurant a try and was very happy. Irish nachos were great! The shrimp basket came with a Thai peanut sauce that was delish. Shrimp were butterflied and nice size. Husband got the garlic crusted cheeseburger and said it was really good. Just sorry we couldn't have been there on a fri or sat to try the prime rib. Breakfast was good too! For this type of chain, this hotel stood out. Excellent value.

When I checked into this room we requested not to be near the center based on the reviews Ive read. The entire middle is open so that is pretty much impossible. It is a neat layout but the weekend we were there they had a family reunion going on and there were people sitting in the middle area after 11PM playing cards, drinking and laughing as well as young kids playing mini golf screaming at the top of their lungs. I called and complained and they shut the lights off but the people continued on. The following night the reunion was gone but the room next to us had about 7 teenage boys drinking and being extremely loud after midnight. The hotel is nice, seemed clean, a bit outdated but I would have enjoyed it if it was a bit more regulated and quieter. We ordered room service and it was very good and cheap (for breakfast).

Room Tip: Order breakfast in bed (room service, it was yummy)

We stayed on a Sunday evening so the hotel was very quiet. The room was clean and had a small refrigerator and a mirowave. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of soft pillows. The sink is located outside of the toilet/shower area. The shower area was very clean - but could use a shelf or two in there to hold a toiletry bag. My shower did have a grab bar but my parent's room did not - so if that is a need be sure to ask at check in. My only issue was the air conditioner unit. I'm picky about having a constant fan sound when I sleep so this may not be an issue for anyone else. I prefer a constant fan running and this unit kicked on and off which bothers me. Otherwise this room was fine for a quick overnight stay.

There was no mention of a complimentary breakfast so when checking out I asked how to get to McDonald's. The desk clerk then mentioned we could have breakfast in the restaurant and gave us vouchers to cover the cost. The breakfast is very good and glad they made that offer.

Overall a nice stay for the 8 hours we were there.
