This was mine and my husband's third stay at Arbor Hill Inn. We love it because it's not too far from home (we have kids who are taken care of, but you never know when an emergency will arise), and it's close enough to many different places. There's plenty to do in LaPorte, but you also have The National Lakeshore in Porter County, the outlet mall in Michigan City, 2 casinos within 1/2 hour, an abundance of golf courses, antique shops, wineries in southwest Michigan, Harbor Country in southwest Michigan, not to mention many, many choices in South Bend and even Chicago with easy access to all. The rooms have always been immaculate and the breakfasts delicious and substantial. I also like that we have our own table for 2 at breakfast and we choose when we eat (I've been to B&B's where there's a seating time, and all the guests sit at one very long table). The one and only drawback may be the staff's over-attentiveness; my husband does not like to be asked over and over again during a meal "how's everything", but we sure would be unhappy if they didn't ask at all! We'll definitely go again!

Our recent visit to Arbor Hill was everthing we expect in a B&B and more. We stayed two nights (Thursday and a very late arrival on Sunday) and were met both times at the front door with a warm smile that matched the innkeeper who took our reservation. The friendly ladies who run this beautiful home keep it so clean that even my wife was thrilled to be able to stay another night with our 7 month old daughter saying "they are so friendly and the room is so clean"
A quality breakfast that clearly exceeded many other B&B meals was available to meet our schedule. As we prepared to leave and take a walk-about the home and grounds, the Arbor Hill ladies went right to work tidying, and dusting with such vigor all the while telling us facts and stories of the home and its history. A truely enjoyable visit at a reasonable rate, this is what a bed and breakfast is suppose to be. We'll definately be back.

This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it was wonderful! We came here for our Wedding night and stayed the night after too and we will never forget it. We stayed in the Global Latitudes room and it was beautiful, felt very luxurious. The room is pretty big with a whirlpool and oversized shower, perfect for couples and people who like to sleep in (the room is pretty dark). The staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful when we had questions. The breakfast was delicious! We may have to make this our place to go for future anniversaries, we would love to come back!

We had the occasion to travel to LaPorte for a family member's wedding and we were looking for accommodations for our entire extended family, as relatives were coming in from all over the US. I reviewed the internet site and as soon as I spoke with one of the Innkeepers, I was sold. The Inn is impeccably kept, and Kris, one of the Innkeepers treated us like family members when we arrived. We were a bit apprehensive about renting a property we had not actually visited, but we hit the jackpot! Kris was extremely accommodating, helped me locate just about anything I could want to find in LaPorte and even helped me unload items from my car--way over and above the service I expected. The fireworks display on the 4th of July as seen from the front porch is breathtaking. If you are in the area, treat yourself to a stay at the Arbor Hill Inn.

Traveling often for my career and my husbands softball team, I have stayed in hotels far more than I would like to and this was one of the nicest B&B's I have ever stayed in. The rooms are very spacious and VERY clean. Having an infant, cleanliness is probably the most important quality I look for, Staff exceeded expectations and were very accomodating. We were even asked if our children needed anything special to eat/ drink during our stay. Something that was never asked before. We didnt require that, but it was nice that they were concerned! Great stay and we will definately go back!

Innkeeper/co-owner Kris charmed us on our first visit last year, and we couldn't wait to return to the Inn while attending "Smooth Jazz at South Shore" in Michigan City. For a couple of Chicagoans in need of some fresh air and tranquility, Arbor Hill is perfect. We love sitting out on the porch with a book and a cool beverage. In the evening, we stroll around the grounds, gazing up at the stars while frogs and crickets perform a calming serenade. In the morning, it's a rich, tasty breakfast with a darn good cup of coffee.

Arbor Hill is just far enough outside of Chicago that you feel like you've gotten away from the city. Yet it's close enough that you're not on the road for hours trying to get there. We think it's the best thing about LaPorte.
