Having previously stayed in the Renmark region at dire places I wasn't expecting much at Pike River. Just thought it would be quieter.

The Pike River Villas are a true luxury treat. We stayed in the Stone Villa. The large villa had a superb lounge room and bedroom overlooking the Pike River. The Villa had everything that you could need with thoughtful touches such as a platter of dried fruits, a bowl of fruit, plunger coffee a choice of local wines and great home made jams all complimentary.

The attention to detail and quality of the property puts Pike River in a class of its own.

An open fire set to be lit with a good store of fire wood the keep the fire going.
Great views over the River and lagoon.
Well placed LED lighting. Sony Bravia flatscreens with a supply of the latest movies and a surround sound system.
Under floor heating in the open bathroom with double showers overlooking the spa.
A well appointed kitchen with quality appliances and fittings.

The Villa itself is crafted from local sandstone and river red gum and built and powered on sustainable principals.

Luxury is lying in bed and watching the shooting stars through the sky roof.

Even the wild life seems to be at ease here.

Stayed here for two nights recently and had the most fabulous stay. Everything is here, all the mod cons, dishwasher, laundry facilities, bbq, stove, microwave, hotplates, 2 TV's, sound system, DVD player, open fire PLUS a heated spa and as you lie in bed you can open the skylight (covered of course) and watch the stars! Sitting in the spa at night watching the stars and having a quiet drink with not a soul around! What more could you ask for. The decor is brilliant, the bathroom awesome and the love-lounge simply irresistable! Other reviews of this place are very accurate and I can say that we will go back and next time for longer! Do not worry about the price; it is worth every penny!

My husband and I recently stayed at the beautiful 'Stone Villa' for two nights as a relaxing getaway in the lead up to Christmas. We loved the stone bathroom with glass basins, the opening skylight above the bed, the coffee machine, the mood lighting, the view from the villa, the deck and the spa. We found wine, cheese, a lovely platter of dried fruit and chocolates on arrival. The villa is out of the way and very private and we were left on our own, which we appreciated but with a phone to contact the owners if needed. There are full cooking facilities, dishwasher and washing machine/ dryer and if you brought along your own food you could stay there the whole time and not have to leave at all. Whilst it is an expensive place to stay for the Riverland, I think it is value for money for what is offered and it is a memorable treat for any couple.

Room Tip: Follow the directions carefully and you will have no trouble finding it. There are no obvious signs...

We stayed in the "Stone" villa for two nights proceeding our wedding and it was amazing. This property is very private and ultra luxurious. Everything you could want has been thought of - coffee machine, wine, gourmet cheeses in the fridge, under floor heating, dvd's, books, heated spa on the veradah and of course the ceiling over the bed opens up to reveal the stars! There is an emphasis on sustainability and the property recycles waste, uses solar power etc.

A good place to go if you want to stay put for a couple of days and really get away from civilization as most of the activities & sites in the area are a bit of a drive away. A bit tricky to find if you are arriving at night. The owners leave you alone (unless you want something!) and the place is yours to walk down to the river bank and soak up the sun.

Yes it is pricey but we have stayed at B&B's and holiday rentals all around South Australia (Barossa, Yorkes, Fleurieu) and this is the most luxurious and private we've seen. I can't comment on the two newest clifftop villas as they have been built and completed since our stay.
