“A very nice zoo”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

A big zoo in the center of the city. You can see various kinds of animals there, take pictures with them. It's not far from the hotel, you can walk to the zoo. A very good attraction that you must visit when you travel to lafayette.

“Perfect Park for family fun”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

Meet our sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren for a day at the park. What a wonderful city park! Plenty of parking, free. Waterpark looked great but was closed for season. Numerous play areas; we played on 4 with the 3 1/2 year old and 1 year old. Walk-about-Wallabee exhibit was so much fun. They are in the enclosure with you and hop around you. Many babies in pouches so that thrilled the girls. Many acres of beautiful grounds with many shelters. This would be a great family reunion spot. There is a little train, costs $1 to ride and the girls enjoyed that as well. Cannot say enough positive things about this gem of a park!

“Unique Animals”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

I went to the Columbian Park Zoo and found that I really enjoyed it. It's all outdoors except, the small gift store, near the entrance of the park. The prairie dogs were so cute and awesome to watch digging their little tunnels. The butterfly exhibit was wonderful and would have been great for elementary teachers to take their students there and explain the different stages of metamorphosis. There were bald eagles and turtles that were fun to stand and watch. The wallaby enclosure you get to walk through so, you are literally two to three feet away from an actual wallaby! Really cool! And it is all free of charge! My only complaint, the day I came it was misting outside and really cold but, next time I will visit when it's warmer.

“Small zoo, great place to pass time with kids of all ages”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

We took a group of 6 kids here, ages 6-11, not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. The zoo is small, but very interesting and well kept. The kids loved being able to interact with and be so close to the wallabies, river otters, and prairie dogs. The butterfly exhibit was really beautiful.
This is in a big complex that includes a baseball stadium, water park, huge playground, and train (just be sure to buy your tickets at the zoo visitor desk, $2 each) ride. We spent a couple of hours here and had a lot of fun.
