La Scala has been a Lafayette asset for a dozen years and we've been customers that long. The downtown location, across from the historic courthouse square is attractive, especially on a nice evening when outdoor dining is an option. Entrees are typically $16-$18, including bread and salad. The owners' support of local, sustainable farming is admirable. On our most recent visit, one pasta dish was average, the other was good. Salads and bread are nothing special, but the locally-made chocolate torte was delicious. Local art decorates the walls, but after 12 years, would be nice to see a fresh coat of paint, upgraded furnishings. The shabby window treatment of the small, historic building where La Scala is located is not a good indication of the dining experience.
