We have been to South Florida many times and each time we go in search of good, authentic Cuban food. Since we have not found a place we really like, we decided to look to trip advisor for suggestions. When we read the reviews for Romeu's, they not only were mostly positive but they also seemed so sincere that we decided to give it a try. We went with friends who lived in the area but had never been to to this restaurant either. It was Memorial Day and the place was busy but not full and we were seated right away. We ordered plantain chips that came with a nice lemony garlic dipping sauce that we all enjoyed, even our picky 11 year old. For main courses, two of us ordered the skirt steak special that came with rice and beans and fried plantains, which was tasty but nothing special. I had the pork chunks that came with white rice and black beans and plantains as well. The pork was dry but not horrible. Two of our dining companions had chicken steak dishes that they seemed to enjoy and our picky 11 year old opted for chicken nuggets from the kiddy menu, and the portion was large with lots of fries and he enjoyed it well enough. All in all, the food was good but nothing to write home about. The service was friendly, but pretty slow. In fact, one of the people we were with asked for some hot sauce and it didn't arrive until the meal was almost over. The prices were pretty good, with 6 of us eating for $75. If you're in the area it's an okay inexpensive option, but I think we are going to continue the search for something better.
