Government has taken a massive development path in Sri Jayawardanapura. You have elegant restaurants around. Walking paths are very attractive and clean.

This is an important and prestigious area of the capital. The parliament is located here and is already in a beautiful and gifted location. The vicinity of the parliament has seen much effort by the untiring soldiers and sailors that revamped the parliament ground, planted new grass and gifted us with beautifully paved walking areas around the parliament ground and along the corniche on the Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Road. Lighting has been installed and is powered by solar. Go green, green Lanka!

There is a nice corniche atmosphere in the safe and clean family area that has also been created at the Y-junction prior to the Battaramulla town and parliament roads. There is a circular aquarium exhibited by private aquariums of the area. The food stalls here offer variety although quality of service has room for improvement. Supervision and standardisation would help here.

Parking is neatly paved with trees to make it complete. Although there is ample parking you could be without any on a very busy day. This is a popular location and there are vendor stall tents that are available for daily rent. One often seems plant and other items of interest for sale here. This could be a good spot to sell fast moving and affordable family items. Patronage consists largely of a lower/middle class crowd.

The roads in this area are good. I would be careful on days there the parliament sits as you have VIP vehicles on a rush flight. I would avoid this area on days of government sponsored strikes and other government functions unless you are prepared to sit in traffic for hours!

A beautiful city in the making. I hope it would be a sustained effort with committed maintenance to back it up. Enjoy!
