We booked a small double room and it was very small but, nonetheless, very comfortable , well-furnished and spotlessly clean. We shall stay again but ask for a bigger room. We ate in the restaurant and had a superb meal at a reasonable price. The breakfast was delicious and very good value. The new owners are working very hard to make this a first-class destination and we wish them well. They are certainly on the right track. They were very friendly and helpful and deserve to do well.

Room Tip: Just ask for other than the two small doubles if you are staying more than one night and have more t...

Having gotten bored of the usual hotels that are littered alongside dual carriageways I opted to stay at the hotel for a night. The accommodation and food was excellent. The selection of real ales and drinks was equally as good and the whole stay was made all the better by the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the landlord and landlady.

The location makes it easy to get to and the location in the center of the village is very nice.

You have to try this out. Well worth a visit!!

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 1 and a colleague Room 2. Both were top notch!

Stayed hear after delightful day wandering around Oxford and prior to visiting Motorhome show at Newbury. What a find!! Lovely big room in the courtyard ( 5 I think )..well furnished with a HUGE bed, nice linen and very comfortable!! Immaculately clean room and shower room and nice selection of beverages. Ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had the asparagus with poached egg and hollandaise starter...perfectly cooked ...and followed with another starter as my main, the whitebait, again very tasty. Partner had a lovely sirloin steak cooked exactly as requested. It's a little treasure that we'd certainly return to again when we're down this way. The welcoming owners had only been there a month when we stayed...and if they keep up these standards will deserve every success. Apparently there are some older TA reviews which are not too complimentary...but these must relate to previous owners and I reckon should be ignored.

Room Tip: Think the ground floor courtyard rooms are more spacious than the upper level ones...but I suspect a...

Recently stayed for 1 night at this very nice pub whilst walking the ridge Way and was very happy with the accommodation, the food and the friendly staff.

Room was modern and well decorated with tea/coffee making and tv as well as a very comfy bed. Bathroom was wet-room style with decent shower and plenty of hot water.

Bar and restaurant area very nice and had a meal which was good standard and well presented at a decent enough price. Beer was usual price for this part of the world.

Overall i would recommend as its easy to get to from the A34 and good value for money all round.

Our two night stay at the Crown and Horns was excellent. The room was beautifully decorated with rustic charm and many little touches - the shower and its four settings and piping hot water was heavenly! Everything was very clean and well looked after.

Kim and her team were genuinely welcoming and took care of us well. We had dinner and breakfasts, all great food and good value for money. The rooms are adjacent to the pub and restaurant, which is very convenient, but you also can't hear any noise from the bar in your room.

All in all the only thing we might have changed was to stay another night!

Having decided on a short break to The Crown and Horns Inn, we looked forward to getting there, however Bank Holiday traffic had other ideas, it took four times longer than expected! The welcome we received on arrival was great, most welcoming host and all the staff very friendly. Our room on the courtyard was spacious, very clean and what you would expect from a boutique hotel, let alone an inn in a beautiful village. The food was very good and very tasty with plenty of options, we ate there on each of our 3 nights there and were never disappointed. Breakfast was filling and I can recommend the bacon butty! set me up for the day! All the staff were friendly and willing to chat, can,t think of anymore to say, except that we will be returning in the not too distant future. Thanks for a lovely relaxing break.
