Owner description: **Public Tours M-F at 10AM** The daily public tour is Monday - Friday at 10:00 AM only, excluding some holidays. Our factory workers come in early and leave as soon as the daily public tour is finished. Private tours are available if scheduled prior to the date needed. Kokomo Opalescent Glass is a manufacturer of colored glass for art and architecture with worldwide distribution and a strong commitment to research, education, and promoting sheet glass art. Based in Kokomo, Indiana for 126 years, we are known worldwide for our hand mixed sheet glass art and colored glass. Take a tour of Kokomo Opalescent Glass and step back in time – you will see the fascinating technique of making art in art sheet glass form. We still manufacture our art sheet glass the same way it was made more than a century ago. In addition, you will see our glass blowers at work making anything from blown glass rondels to exclusive one of a kind blown glass paperweights and vases. Once your tour is complete you will be given a gift from KOG! We want your visit to Kokomo Opalescent Glass to be memorable and for you to take away a piece of history. After you see how our glass is created, you can shop in our retail store.

Be sure to check the times for tours because they aren't everyday. Closed toe shoes are a requirement. Tour is free and very interesting. You get to see the glass actually being made and formed into products for the gift shop. The glass made at this factory is shipped internationally and found in many familiar buildings around the world.

The guide provided a lot of information and it was very interesting to see how make all the creations, from sheet glass to art pieces.

The factory tour is amazing if you have any interest at all in glasswork. The company has been in operation for 125 years and was a major supplier of glass to Louis Comfort Tiffany. Their glass is seen in churches and cathedrals around the globe, the Vatican, the White House, and others too numerous to mention. Watching the people make the sheet glass was fascinating, as were the folks in the Art Glass shop. The tour guide, Sandy, was very enthusiastic about all aspects of the factory and really knew the business well. You could tell that she loved her job. The CEO greets every tour when they are finished and thanks them for coming. You can get tour details/hours on their website.
I would not recommend taking small children who may not be interested or follow direction well, this is a working factory and has hazards for the careless.

What a wonderful find in Kokomo! The people were so incredibly nice, the shop has some really nice things, and we found out next Saturday they will have a tour we are definitely going back for. They do custom work too! The shop is free & the tour is only $5!

I was fascinated to hear the history of this place and go on the tour. I continue to drive to Kokomo from my home almost 2 hours away to look for unusual gifts for weddings and other occasions. A real Indiana gem.
