“Too fancy for me, but it's a nice hotel”
Reviewed November 10, 2009

For a sort of "on the way" business trip stop, and especially being in the not-really-hip Louisville, KY (actually across the river in Jeffersonville, IN), this hotel is very... hip. The decor felt uncomfortably hip at times, making you wonder why you're not dressed up and sitting in the hotel bar. Even though I wasn't paying, I felt like the value wasn't much here for what we needed the hotel for.

Of course, if it were me, I'd be staying in a Super 8 (always my first choice of hotel unless I can find a VERY inexpensive Drury), so maybe I'm not the one to rate this hotel.

The service was slow. It took forever to check in. Breakfast service was painfully slow, and we had to be out on a shoot. We almost didn't get to eat. The one waitress who was there made off-color jokes and insulted us. She also couldn't seem to understand our simple orders. Thankfully the front desk's dinner recommendation was good.

The room was too posh, not cozy in the least. I guess that's the kind of vibe they wanted. It put me off. The room was too big for one bed. There was too much metal and primary colors.

Also, it didn't seem to be in the best area of town, and there was a very loud crash outside my window in the middle of the night. The front desk was unable to solve the mystery of what caused the crashing noise. The place was confusing to get in and out of because you had to get onto the bridge and cross into Kentucky before you could go the other direction on the road.

Overall, it was just a single night's stay in a hotel that was out of place.

This was our last stop on a road trip we took with our dog over the summer. We had had a long day leading up to check-in (at the Mammoth Caves) and were happy to find that this hotel had a restaurant. We were able to be seated on the patio with a great view of the river and city. Were were even able to watch fireworks.

The hotel was very nice for the price and our room was ready for our dog with a bed and the food/water bowls.

The hotel was easy to find if you were going south on I65; it was a little trickier, but not difficult, going north. We were very impressed with the beds, which were very comfortable. I also liked the fact that this was the first hotel with a LCD television that featured a few channels in HD, including HBO. The other hotels we stayed at with LCD TV's only had standard definition stations. The bar on the first floor was reasonably priced, which was another pleasant surprise. All the staff we had contact with were very friendly. We didn't try the restaurant, so we can't comment on that. They didn't have a refrigerator or microwave in the room, so it may not work as well for a long stay. For the two nights we spent there though, it was great.

What a fabulous hotel. You get what you pay for. It is not cheap, but the rooms are lovely, the staff is great, the ambiance is just perfect. Luxury, but with free Internet in the lobby, and a warm laid back atmosphere.

My husband drove with me for workshops I was presenting around the state; although I was there for business, this hotel provided a sense of romance, as well.

The desk staff helped us find the nearby Red Door Spa, which provided a great massage for a tired presenter (me) at a low price. There's a cool ice cream stand behind a Victorian house just up the road, and the restaurant across the street was quite good.

The reason we were in the Louisville area was because our son was attending the University of Louisville soccer camp. The hotel is about a 10-minute drive from the university on I-65.

This hotel is in Jeffersonville, Indiana, which is situated across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. The bedrooms and washrooms are very clean. There is a small pool and great exercise room, although we never took advantage of either. Their in-house restaurant, the Bristol Bar and Grille, had a great "build yourself" omelette. Couldn't finish it!

We stayed there as Starwood Preferred Guests, and had access to their Club Lounge. When the hostesses were present, they were friendly and accommodating, and happy to have a conversation with you if they weren't busy. Wasn't too much variety in the food selection for the breakfast and hors d'oeuvres, but we weren't complaining.

The Sheraton is located about a 1/4 mile away from the Southern Indiana Visitors Center. We walked over there and got lots of information about Jeffersonville and Louisville. The Visitors Center is at the start of the 2nd Street Bridge, and we took the opportunity to walk over to Louisville (about a mile walk) for a stroll around historic Main Street West. Another day, we walked over to the Falls of the Ohio State Park. Interesting limestone formations, you can go right down to the river bed (that's closed off by a dam unless there's a water-level issue).

There are no longer laundry facilities at the hotel (we think there must have been, because they still sell Tide detergent in their "tuck shop"). We were recommended by the front desk staff to take the laundry down the road to a laundry shop, and they did a great job at washing and folding the laundry to take back in just a few hours. Great facility, highly recommended.

There are several restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and we took advantage of Rocky's (Italian, very good) and Buckheads (bar fare, great variety) and Bearno's (excellent pizza!).

We stayed for two nights while attending a wedding in Louisville. This is a great hotel, in a convenient location. Just minutes from every part of Louisville, and easy access to the interstates. The hotel is clean, modern and the staff was amazing! We booked through priceline, and got a great price.

Stayed two nights and loved every minute.

The hotel is located just across the river from downtown Louisville and about a 15 minute drive from the airport. The hotel is virtually brand new in every area.

I was upgraded to a spacious suite with a nice view of the Ohio River and city skyline. Bed was very comfortable, clean bathroom, and a nice flat screen with several channel options. The WIFI connection was spotty and slow at times but there are two computers in the lobby if needed at no additional cost.

The fitness center is state of the art with cardio machines and free weights -- the indoor pool is heated but more ideal for small children. If you're of the jogging type you can jog across the bridge to downtown Louisville or visit the nearby state park.

There are several dining options next to the hotel including an Italian and Steak restaurant -- there's also a Subway if your looking for a less expensive option.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.
