I have attended plenty of large events, but nothing like the scope of the Indy 500 which attracts over 300,000 race fans. It is an event packed weekend with concerts and driver interviews on Friday, a parade on Saturday, and of course - the race on Sunday. There is plenty to see and do on race day, particularly people watching! You can visit the infield with food and drink venders, and check out cars from Chevy and Honda. There is a kid zone and the Purdue marching band, and what I appreciated most, especially given that is Memorial Day Weekend, was the tributes, honors, speeches and fly-bys from our nation's armed forces.

Been going to the Indy 500 for 4 years now. It’s such a great experience. There is so much to do on race day and on the days leading up to the race. There is a concert and vintage race on Friday (carb day). Legands day(Saturday) has a country concert, a driver’s meeting, autograph sessions, a fan fest with free giveaways, and a tour of the garages at gasoline alley. Race day is the best. There are so many events that happen prior to the race and the race is extremely exciting! Love the Indy 500 so much. Such a great family tradition.

IMS is a fantastic facility & the racing was awesome.
Get there early & take lots of liquid!!!
It’s defiantly a tick the box experience.
Pre book your parking & don’t expect to get out fast after the race! 300,000 people take a while to disperse!
Defiantly go for a wander around the infield - the atmosphere is fab!
We climbed up on to the track & saw the trophy as it arrived in the pits under police escort.
The bands are usually good & Hi Carb Friday is well worth doing - both for the bands & the Indy Lights racing.
If you have grandstand seats booked I would recommend renting the seat backs from the booths all around the track for $10 as there is no back to the metal seating & you will be sat for quite a while!
An excellent event & experience.

A must watch racing event in once life.
The sport is one of its kind on earth. The magnanimity is very inspiring, the jets, helicopters, gliders, the public and of course the RACE...worth visiting IMS, dont miss this yearly event.

Attended the famous Indy 500 today! Very well organized considering the huge crowds, over 300,000 people! Lots of security everywhere and even more police cars parked all around as a show of force. Traffic was slow, many roads were blocked but all total only took 1 hr to get there (typical according to map app was 30 min). The grounds were clean, and people were polite and actually well behaved. The pomp and circumstance for this event is fun! Food was good (BBQ) and the bar was open serving bloody Mary’s all morning. The fly over by Military jets literally shakes the ground! The sound of 33 engines flying past at 200+ miles per hour is incredible. The cars literally fly past in the blink of eye with a sound you can feel in your gut. Absolutely a once in a lifetime must do experience!
