“Mostly okay...”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

The staff cleaning the room always seemed to forget to leave something: the right number of towels, soap, extra toilet paper, tissues, etc. That would require a call to get the needed items, which always arrived soon, but still, this should have been taken care of without making the call. Otherwise all was okay. This was my first visit to Indianapolis and was very surprised at the number of panhandlers in the area. Be aware of that.

Of course, I exaggerate somewhat in saying that parking costs as much as a room, but this is a hotel that seems to like making its money from extras. Parking is definitely a substantial cost in what seems to be a city that is not challenged for space. They even charge for the keys.

The rooms are spacious, but dark. I had to fumble to turn on lights when I arrived. That said, couldn't turn off those annoying automatic LED floor night-lights that seem to activate if you as much as break wind in the bed.

The rooms are also a bit on the warm side, although this might have something to do with being on the 17th floor, towards the top of the internal atrium. I calculate this at about 15,000,000 cubic feet of space (plus or minus), all of which gets heated during winter, with all of that hot air presumably rising toward the top..... and in to my room. Not very environmentally friendly, but very supportive of the local coal fired power industry.

The gym is excellent and the hotel very well located. Avoid breakfast in the lobby restaurant. The staff are friendly enough. Having a range of food to offer their guests would be an additional advantage. I guess management are still working out how to charge extra for the spoons.

We stayed at this hotel for the 2013 USAC Banquet. The rate was approximately $75-100 less than other downtown hotels. It is located a couple of blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium. It has an enclosed skywalk that allows easy access to the mall and the PRI show at the convention ctr. It has a variety of restaurants within a block or two. The staff is very helpful, friendly, & prompt. We needed additional towels and they arrived immediately. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows were great.
The only issue we had was with getting our car on Saturday evening. The traffic was awful that evening due to all of the events going on downtown. We waited 45 min. for our valet service and finally asked for a cab. It was at no fault of their valet service. Our car was in their overflow lot a couple of blocks away. Indy is a very busy city on weekends. Call ahead to schedule your cab/valet service! We waited over an hour & a half for a cab to pick us up at the NCAA Hall of Champions for our return trip to the Hyatt.
I would recommend the Hyatt and will stay there again.

Dear NCMary,
Thanks for your recent 5 Star review! I am glad that you had a great stay at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis! As evident by your wait, that weekend was particularly busy in the downtown area and I’m not surprised by the time you waited for your car or cab. Please come visit Indy again and we will look forward to welcoming you back to the Hyatt Regency!

Hyatt Regency's tend to be the same no matter where they are. This one is perfectly fine. The location is good, attached to the mall, close to the stadium, and other attractions. Service is fine.

I really liked the breakfast buffet. it seemed like quite a good value, for a hotel breakfast. Omelettes made to order were tasty. There was really nice fresh fruit, including berries and pineapple.

I was actually surprised at how quiet the hotel is. There was a marching band competition, and at least 2 bands worth of high school kids staying in the rooms near by. I never heard them.

We stayed at this hotel during the Big Ten Championship football game in December 2013. The hotel is obviously updated to a modern décor, the breakfast buffet was wonderful, staff friendly and location is right in the middle of it all - you can even see Lucas Oil Stadium from the entrance.

My wife and i and family visited Indy the weekend before Thanksgiving to go tot he Children's Museum. The museum was great, and the Hyatt hotel room we had on the 18th floor was excellent. Pristine clean, and with very helpful customer service employees in the lobby to help out. We swam on Saturday night and Sunday morning int he nice pool. We visited Shapiro's deli for brunch, which is a world class kosher deli.

We will return to the Hyatt in Indy.

This hotel is beautiful inside and out. The ballroom is nice. The rooms have been fully updated since I was last here two years ago. I appreciate the glass shower and iphone charger/player. The room was small but the space was maximized. I loved the pillows on the bed. I normally hate hotel pillows. I might even order one! Plus, location is prime. It is in the middle of downtown right by the stadium and circle center.
