We arrived shortly after the fairgrounds opened and visited the horse barns, dairy barn, horticulture building, arts and crafts building, Pioneer Village, the 4-H building, several other interesting buildings and displays and, of course, ended up at the midway. The grandkids had a terrific time enjoying the animals, getting engaged with art centers in the arts and crafts building, connecting with artisans in Pioneer Village, and finding most of the fair displays to be of interest. The Big Tent event was, of course, a highlight with circus acts that were definitely entertaining if not thrilling. The price was right, too . . . at no extra charge. We saved the Midway until almost last and the $2 Tuesday fee for rides made the experience less costly than it would have been any other day but since we waited until evening there were a lot of youth who had attended school earlier in the day and came out to the fair and the Midway for their evening fun. There was more to explore than we could take in and we were all exhausted by 9 pm when we decided to leave. The price was right for the entry at $2 per person to the fairgrounds and parking was nearby for $8. Overall it was a great experience that probably should be scheduled over two days to enjoy everything, especially with a show involved.

I have never been to the State Fairgrounds during a time of the year that wasn't the State Fair, but there are lots of places to visit here and plenty to do here.

My family and I attended the State Fair today. It had started sprinkling when we parked our car (parking is $8) and started walking to the gate. It was raining, but not too bad. When we reached the gate, we found that at the entrance, no one was selling tickets. The building that sells tickets literally had their windows covered. We were confused so we kept walking thinking maybe they had moved someplace else (even though the ticket building was covered). We ended up at security and not a single person was there. We passed through the metal detectors on our own, but we worried about our safety the entire time we were there since anyone could just walk in without having their bags searched.
We waited out the rain in various buildings looking at the animals and arts exhibits. We also ate at the Indiana Pork booth in which our BBQ pulled pork and pit mini potatoes were delicious.
We didn't bother riding any of the rides, but we enjoyed Pioneer Village as well as Hook's Apothecary. We avoided the MANY food booths (duck fat fries, deep friend oreos, deep fried vegetables, elephant ears, lemonade, etc).
Funnily enough, when we left it was sunny and no longer raining. We exited by the main entrance and noticed they were selling tickets again and had their security back checking bags. Odd.

We visited with grandkids aged 13 to 7 months old. Everyone had a ball. So many different food vendors. All you can imagine! Rides were fun for the kids. The grounds were well kept and clean.

Good job to all.
