This is a place you can get lost in time. There is so much to do and see that you just can't get it all in in one trip. The parking is easy, just wear your best walking shoes, or catch the tram. I suggest walking as much as you can so you can justify eating all the funnel cakes, turkey legs and elephant ears you want.

Despite being super busy for the Indiana State fair, everything by the livestock was kept very clean. I was surprised that the bathrooms were always stocked and clean. The people helping us check in our pigs were also nice and helpful.

Each year we visit at least one state fair. This year our first stop was the Indiana state fair at Indianapolis. If you are an antique farm equipment guy like me this is the place to be. There is a large area where numerous pieces of farm equipment from yesteryear are on display. Live demonstrations of a saw mill, shingle mill, threshing and hay press to mention just a few, are in use each day. There are a number of buildings containing items from yester year such as stoves, a “very early” corn picker and countless other items. Of course, there were many other items and displays to look at that are not farm related. My wife is a connoisseur of corn dogs and said these were about the best. Food was fantastic and although a trolley ride will cost you one dollar it is worth it to see a complete layout of the fair. Would love to go again.

Our kids entered competitive food and art items in the Indiana Arts building (2 blue ribbons!), but that was just the icing on the cake. We love fair food, the crowds, and the exhibits. For 2018 (now ended), the circus was fantastic. The ninja experience? Not so much. A tip: save your plastic lemonade cups and plastic fried veggie bucket, and only pay the refill price next year (much cheaper!).

The fair has an building which has a lot local stand inside. Outdoor weather is hot but there are also couple of indoor display. The cow and horse show is interesting. There are lots of food stand choice and the flavor is ok.
