Ambience is good here, even during lunch. Two of us shared the well-publicized St. Elmo's shrimp cocktail with special sauce. Five jumbo shrimp were served in a bowl covered with a sauce made with freshly grated horseradish and a lemon slice. The server warned that we should avoid eating too much of the sauce at once, and she was correct. It was deliciously potent on the shrimp, and certainly cleared the sinuses. We also shared the fried green tomato dish (four generous slices) served with a nice, tangy dipping sauce.
My husband ordered their cheesy onion soup and thought it was quite good.
Our cousin ordered a prime rib sandwich, which was served with fries.
Our server was very helpful and efficient. We purchased a bottle of the special St. Elmo's sauce as a gift. Their fresh sauce has a short shelf life, but bottled will last for months.
