“Really nice wedding reception venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Attended a wedding reception in the lower banquet room. It was a lovely setup with a nice balance of seating space and floor space. Because the dance floor was in the middle, you could be seated a little far away from the action, but it was still very comfortable. The staff was friendly and the bartenders prompt and courteous. Dinner was served buffet-style and was very tasty! Didn't get a chance to visit the main restaurant area, but it looked really nice all around. Located in a nice part of downtown in a cool old building, great atmosphere.

“Best beer hall this side of Munich.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

The largest ancestry group in America, yes we are counting Irish and African, is German. Amazing, but so little is left so few who know. These great places were in every industrial city and now gone gone gone, but the Rathskeller in Indy, of all places, survived. Best beer hall this side of Munich.

I focus on the beer hall (Kellerbar) because pound for pound it is such an architectural gem. German to the hilt that keeps it so warm, but narrow in space, that helps it to avoid the cavernous beer hall effect. Eat, drink, and drink again, my friend.

“Very unique”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

The food is original and unique. My husband's family is German and they love it. Try it for lunch and try new things. Many recommendations but the Frikadelle Rathskellers version of German hamburger is a favorite.

“Start to finish and all points in between were a treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

You start with the pretzels, you move to the ox-tail soup, then schnitzel with potato pancakes, and spetzel and you sit there saying wow. In between all that you pick from a variety of beer that makes you want to come back just to try more. Go with the big glass and you cannot go wrong. This is a place to go with business partners, customers, or your family.

“amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

Having traveled to Germany twice, wasn't sure how this would be but was i surprised! The pretzels and mustard were outstanding, soups delicious, etc. The building is old and restored with a great outdoor patio and live music. Truly took me back to Germany!
