This was an excellent place to bring young kids. Free and so clean...plenty of area to play and run in. We had 4 kids ages 1-11 and they all enjoyed it. The nature center was a great place with little activities and things for the kids to look at. We took the trail down to the river and then back up to the playgrounds and my 1 year old could easily walk them. The playgrounds were awesome because there were 3 separate ones separated by age so my daughter could play and not be run over by bigger kids and bigger kids had their playground without little ones getting in the way. Really great place.

I came here on a Friday evening. The races of man ruins were impressive, but that was the only good thing out of the park. There’s a nature center, which was closed on Good Friday and a playground for little children. I just walked around for a bit. Not really worth a visit unless you’re a big fan of walking. There’s probably better parks to walk in Indianapolis anyways.

Holliday Park has been in my life for over 20 years and I still love going there whenever I get the chance. The fountain area (ruin) used to be fenced off but has been remodeled and is now more open. Most of the statues are still in place and that is a good thing. I remember many times sitting against them on a warm spring day writing poetry and just soaking up the atmosphere around me.
The nature center has been remodeled and is very different now but the gardens and the trails are still beautiful. The one trail going over the bridge was overgrown (last summer) but still passable. The graffiti on the bridge has gotten out of hand but what are you going to do?
I will continue to come here whenever I get the chance to visit Indy and will continue to bring my kids here to experience this place I love so much.

All times of the year are magical here at the park. In spring see the flowers and new vegetation in the forest, at the ruins, and all around. In winter when it's cold you can visit the quaint nature center or tromp along the trails. In summer play on the playground, stomp in the river, and run on the green fields. Fall is the best, with all the leaves! Take the time to really explore the trails that go out under Meridian, under the bridge. Exciting stuff!

Holliday Park, on the near northside of Indy, is a large park with a wide varitey of features. There is a delightful Nature Center, lots of trails, and some interesting public art displays. One of the odd features of the park is call "The Ruins". Originally part of a building in New York City, the three colums are topped with sculptures of Caucasian, Asian and African American figures. The original building was demolished in 1950, Indy won the contest an got the sculptures. This park is worth your time.
