“Wooded oasis in city; awesome playground needs restrooms, not portapotties”

Holliday Park was once the summer home for the publisher of the Indianapolis newspaper. It has rolling hills and a ravine leading to the river. The trails are just perfect, and in the fall, you can fool yourself into thinking you're in Brown County. There is a wonderful nature center. This park can easily be an all-day destination for families or anyone seeking to get away from city life. The playground includes 3 areas for children of different ages/abilities. The preschool area is fenced. There are many activities to keep busy kids entertained. The only drawback is the lack of restrooms and water. There are ancient portapotties which are supposedly cleaned regularly, but have urine caked around the urinal. The stench is awful; it must have been a long time since disinfecting chemicals were added. It would be a tremendous expense to plumb a bathroom, but the volume of visitors this park receives is well worth the investment. This gem of a park deserves the best.

Beautiful forest-like park in the middle of suburban Indianapolis. Perfect for a hike. Wooden walkways and stairs take you from the top of the canopy to a tranquil river below

A beautiful park . We enjoyed playing at the playground. My son loved climbing trees, rocks and running with new friends in the grass. I loved the trail leading to the river. We will be back to explore ag as in when the Nature Center is open.

This quaint little park has been a neighbor hood fixture for decades and is currently undergoing a major renovation due to a neighborhood fund raising campaign. It is very popular with youth and young adults. The day we took our three monkeys (grandsons) they scampered from one area to the next on the many and varied swings, climbing, and what not attractions. No water attractions. We had a pleasant lunch under the shade of the many mature trees before finishing with a stroll on one of the several trails that lead into the undeveloped woods, down to White River.

Great way to get a little walk in, see a little nature center and a huge playground. It is free to the public so with very young children it can be nerve racking as this playground draws in the families.
