Description: We believe the best neighborhood restaurants should be the place where you can enjoy fantastic food with eccentric beer, wine, and cocktail offerings. We opened on the East End of Massachusetts Avenue because our neighbors take food as seriously as we do, which makes it one of the most exciting food destinations in the city. We serve comfort foods with a modern update. Our obsession with age old pickling and preservation methods often makes appearances in our carefully crafted dishes. We believe that good food shouldn't be overly complex and the atmosphere reflects that attitude. We'll welcome you in jeans or a suit. Don't have time for a meal? That's okay with us. Come on in after work to unwind with a drink.

“interesting and beautiful food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

A small group attending a meeting decided to try Blackmarket. Nice walk from the convention center area. We had a great time. Some of the food was really excellent, some just very good. Some of the dishes were quite beautiful, with the reddest or yellowest possible tomatoes (that tasted great), and other fresh ingredients.Generous portions, interesting flavors, nice staff. We tried a few unfamiliar wines, all good. I/we would surely go back.

“Black Market Misses the Mark”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

I really wanted to love this restaurant, but Black Market failed to deliver. The food was decent, but certainly not worth the price. The "cocktail" I ordered was half club soda. For $10 I expect a real drink with real flavor, fresh juice, herbs, or something interesting at least, and this was certainly not. This restaurant has potential, great location, good ideas on the menu, but the execution is just not there. In any city with good restaurants this place wouldn't last a month. Indianapolis needs to raise the bar. Seeing all the other good reviews makes me want to try again, but I don't want to waste another $50 when I can get a better meal at Yat's for $8.

“So worth the walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2012

We were sent here by a gal from Starbucks she said it would be a bit of a walk but we got to look at all the funky shops and resturants along Mass ave.
The food was over the top. We wanted
An unusual local flair and duck tostadas sure were. As was the trout and walleye fry.. Light corn breaded filets. This is an out of the way small intimate resturant worth finding. The beer selection was as diverse as the food. Gem!!!

“Foodie find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2012

Easily one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis. Here you will find creative and daring food . This evening I had a frog leg papradelle with tomatoes and olives which was fantastic. The standout of the evening though had to be the potato salad the accompanied my partners schnitzel. Shredded horseradish and parsley created some very interesting flavor tension in said salad. We have been to Black Market several times since it opened, and it has never failed to impress.
