After many trips to Chinatown in NYC and Chicago, I think the dim sum at Szechwan Garden compares very well. Chinatown may offer very slightly better har gow and shrimp-filled rice crepes, but Szechwan Garden holds its own with shiu mai and sticky rice, and I think they serve superior pork-filled bean curd wraps and pork riblets in black bean sauce. We also ordered a beef chow fun, and it was well-prepared and tasty without being too oily. Can't wait to go back and try some of the dishes unavailable at your average restaurant (salted fish fried rice, anyone?). The service was friendly and efficient, and they will gladly help you navigate the numerous menu choices. While not in the nicest neighborhood in Indy, we went early on a Sunday afternoon and felt perfectly safe. I think if you grew up on Chinese home-cooking, you will appreciate the offerings at Szechwan Garden.
