While in Indianapolis on business, I decided to walk along College Ave. until I found a place that looked inviting. I happened upon the delightful Aristocrat Pub and Restaurant. Happy chance. I ordered the special, grilled salmon with rice pilaf and asparagus. Paired with a local craft beer, the meal was a 5-star. The asparagus was prepared to the perfect tender-crisp, while the salmon and rice were just right - some restaurants over cook all three items - so, like Goldilocks, I emphasize here, just right. The black bean soup was bland and lukewarm, but enhanced by the sour cream and onions on the side. The server was nice and allowed me to enjoy the outdoor garden cafe without the bums' rush that I sometimes get as a single diner. For dessert, I recommend the dense, chocolate bete noire and cup of coffee. If weather permits, sit outside for the company of the birds overhead and the lovely view of trees and flowers that separate the dining from the street traffic.
