While in Indianapolis on business, I decided to walk along College Ave. until I found a place that looked inviting. I happened upon the delightful Aristocrat Pub and Restaurant. Happy chance. I ordered the special, grilled salmon with rice pilaf and asparagus. Paired with a local craft beer, the meal was a 5-star. The asparagus was prepared to the perfect tender-crisp, while the salmon and rice were just right - some restaurants over cook all three items - so, like Goldilocks, I emphasize here, just right. The black bean soup was bland and lukewarm, but enhanced by the sour cream and onions on the side. The server was nice and allowed me to enjoy the outdoor garden cafe without the bums' rush that I sometimes get as a single diner. For dessert, I recommend the dense, chocolate bete noire and cup of coffee. If weather permits, sit outside for the company of the birds overhead and the lovely view of trees and flowers that separate the dining from the street traffic.

Atmosphere is warm and welcoming. When the weather is good, outdoor seating is great. Even though the pub sits on busy College Avenue, the plants out front provide a nice screen from the street. Excellent Reuben or Tenderloin sandwiches, great salads, and a nice range of beverages make this a great casual dining spot for lunch or dinner.

Since being remodeled after a fire, this is such a nice spot to visit. (It was nice before..now it is really nice..) Great for lunch, dinner or just to grab a bite and hang out. Spacious seating (Unless there is a Butler game that day! ;-) and attentive staff. Prices are decent. The Baked brie is incredible. Not sure why it is so great--it just is. Just the right mix of everything. Salads and sandwiches are quite ample. Always a great visit there. Variety of beers as well. Worth the stop.

Typical Indiana bar food. Great tenderloin sandwich. Recently remodeled and they have a nice outdoor seating area.

We visited for an early Saturday night dinner. No wait for a table. Sat outside on the patio. For being a newer building there is still an old feel. The host who seated us was very friendly. Our server was nice but spent his time talking with three women at one of his four tables rather than checking on any of the rest of us. The food was wonderful. An amazing stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer. It was huge and would make a meal in itself! The beer cheese was also good. Fish and chips, chicken tenders and the crab cake all got the thumbs up. They have 60 beers on tap. We chose a Sun King Cream Ale which was cold and tasty. Slow to come to the table. Once we received our dinners, our server never came back to check on us or offer us refills until he brought us our bill. We will go back but would request a different server.
