“Best Fairfield Inn I've ever been in!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2014

This Fairfield Inn is fairly new. Well built -- no noise between rooms on same floor or floor above. Spacious room. Friendly, efficient employees. Good breakfast with everything. It connects to the Convention Center with a Skywalk. It connects to the JW Marriott, the Courtyard, and the Springhill Suites. All share underground parking, $23/day. Walking distance to the Lucas Oil Stadium. The baseball field and two museums are across the street. The thermostat said my room was 78 but I was still cold. Water temp in the shower was uneven.

Room Tip: I faced the street and the museums. Nice view.

Green Features: I used one towel the entire time. Same for sheets, etc.

we live just outside the city and were attending Smiley Prom '14 , found a Groupon for this hotel, making it $104 + $23 to overnight park securely, Cheaper than a DUI for sure!!
Upon entering you are greeted by bellmen and front desk staff, very kind & helpful!! Given keys & explaination of how to work the underground garage parking. we were on the 3rd floor ALL the way to the end of the hall, not terrible as the elevators were fast, building was Spotless and had a wonderfully clean aroma in the hall, the room was SMALL but we were just 2 people and only there to clean up and sleep so no biggie! King bed was roomy, mattress was comfy, 5 pillows was plenty, blankets and linens clean! would have appreciated a full length mirror ;) Glass shower was BEAUTIFUL, water pressure was GREAT, towels are thin and rough (ready for replacement but not a deal breaker) restroom was clean!! NO COMPLAINTS!! Oh and we called for cab service which was prompt and very reasonably priced!! And Breakfast was Right on Time as well!! Would definitely recommend this hotel to visitors of INDY!!

I had a very good experience at this hotel. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Place was very clean. Beds were comfortable and shower was warm with great pressure. This is not the JW hotel - which is right next door - but, a very good value for the money - and as a frequent business traveler - I would highly recommend. Breakfast was the standard fare - but, fresh and good. I slept thru it on the second day - and when I went down at 9:50 am - the very nice staff there got me cereal and milk out of the back. They also granted me a late checkout - which was really nice and helpful. One cool thing is there is a Fridays restaurant attached to this hotel - so, good food was easily available. Also - you can walk thru this hotel thru the JW to the parking garage to get to the convention center - so, no need to go outside - which was great considering it was pouring rain this am!

Room Tip: The whole back of the hotel faces the back of the JW hotel right next door. So, if you want a view...

The ownership has a profit-making formula here: a convenient downtown location suitable for conference accommodations, and at business-class prices, but with off-the-freeway motel-quality amenities. The hotel gets one star for cleanliness (it was indeed very clean), and one for the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. But the comfort of beds and the quality of linens, towels and furnishings is astonishingly poor for the hefty price charged.

My brother and I had business to take care of downtown but wanted to turn it into a mini-vacation so stayed several days and nights. The staff at every category bent over backwards to be helpful, , changing our room right away when I called to ask for a room with a nice view instead of a view of air conditioners. I'd asked for a room high up but forgot to mention my idea that if we were up high, a pretty view would be included. Be sure to be clear about what you want when you request a room and they will try to accommodate you. You can request a room type ahead of time (at least as early as the morning of your arrival) and they will pre-select a room.
When checking in, we discovered the valets are pretty insistent about taking care of your luggage if you stop in the front of the building to unload it on a cart. If you want to avoid that extra bit of help, check in, park in the garage, and take a cart down there to unload everything.
I was glad I had the help since I decided to ask for a different room after some luggage was unloaded and had to go downstairs to pick up new room keys.
The rooms are a nice size and our bathroom was huge! The beds were very comfortable and look like the beds in the website - white plumped coverlets and clean sheets tucked in all around to make a poufy bed. The room came equipped with microwave and mini-refrigerator, coffeepot, a blow dryer we discovered in the closet shelf, and a very nice flat screen TV. We were really impressed with its picture. The windows in the rooms are very large and we had a great view of The Indiana State Museum and the Eitlejorg Museum across the street. The grounds and museum are very pretty to look at and there are city lights in the distance.
Our heat went out one morning and maintenance arrived very quickly. They determined the problem and instead of making us wait for a part to arrive, they took one from a room that wasn't being used. I went down for a quick breakfast and it was fixed by the time I went back upstairs. I got a call from management letting me know they were planning to monitor it for a few hours, to make sure it kept working correctly. I got a few more calls from him, just making sure everything was all right. My brother needed rubber bands and instead of telling him where he could go to quickly buy some, they gave him several that they were using. They were all warm, professional and helpful. The housekeeping chores begin early - we got a knock on the door at 8:30 AM - so if you plan to sleep in, be sure to put the "Do Not Disturb" in the door til you're ready for them. Everything was very clean and fresh looking.
The internet connection was fine and we were both using it. Unlike some hotels, this one doesn't track or limit how many devices are using their service.
All the rooms and grounds are non-smoking, but there are a few spots (such as the 2nd level of the parking garage) where a person can smoke and there are receptacles.
There isn't a pool in this hotel but the Springhill Suites next door has a pool guests can use and there is a small fitness center by the Lobby reception area.
If you have suitcases you need to weigh before heading to the airport (charges for an overweight bag on American Airlines was significantly more than the cost of a second bag) there's a great scale in the fitness center. We confirmed it had accurate weight when the suitcase was weighed at the airport.
The free Continental breakfast was, as advertised, what you'd expect of a Continental style breakfast. They had several kinds of juice, lots of coffee ( and a few flavored creamers as well as the regular ones), several kinds of tea, scrambled eggs and sausage patties. They had shredded cheddar, salsa, and a few hot sauces for the eggs, too. There were hard boiled eggs and fresh fruit, little muffins and an assortment of things to toast, cartons of milk and a nice assortment of cereals.
The entrance to the garage is just a little past the hotel entrance, on the same side of the street, and is easy to get in and out of. The parking garage is shared with two others and is color coded so that you'll be able to tell which area will put you close to your hotel's elevators.
The hotel has a T.G.I.Friday's just outside, on the ground level. We wanted to try food that wasn't part of a big chain so didn't eat there. We could see it was pretty popular, though. There are lots of good places to eat that are close by and we found two that we loved. The ifrst was the Granite City Food and Brewery Downtown Indianapolis and the second was the High Velocity Sports Bar located in the JW Marriott just a short walk away. I'll post reviews of those at the restaurant section but they both had great food and our service was great, too.
One of the reasons we selected this hotel was its location. It's by across from two very nice museums and the White River park, the Convention Center and not a bad walk to Downtown Indy and Circle Center Mall. Indianapolis has a maze of walkways connecting hotels and buildings in many directions, crossing over streets and taking you to many sections of the downtown area, minimizing any need to go outside. Since we were there in winter, we really appreciated this! The only thing to be cautious about is to make sure that if your route takes you through the Convention Center you get back through it before it shuts down for the night or that you know an alternate route back. This hotel is easy to spot from outside as it's a few doors down from the very blue, very tall (for Indy) JW Marriott.

Room Tip: Be specific about what you want from a room and the hotel will do your best to accommodate you. As...

Just stayed one night but had no complaints. Wasn't able to make it to breakfast so I can't comment on that but the room was clean and nice sized. I was able to check in about 3 hours early so that was very much appreciated. Good location. Parking is typical for a downtown city hotel....very high but the garage was clean and convenient to the hotel.

Green Features: I really couldn't care less about the hotel's "environmentally-friendly practices" I'm there to sleep not save the planet.

I visit Indy every year for a trade show and convention at the convention center, this was my first time staying at the Fairfield. After staying here, I wish I would have stayed here on all my previous visits. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. They have a nice selection for breakfast. Another plus was the free wireless in room internet, you pay extra for this service at most other downtown hotels.

We stayed during another very cold snap that came through the region, so being able to walk to to the convention center without having to go outside was another huge plus!
