If you find yourself in the vicinity of 54th and College you must stop at Locally Grown Gardens. The aroma is awesome and visually it is so I inviting. It is a produce market, but also sells gourmet ingredients and beautiful French china. Now for the food! They serve smoked pork which accounts for part of the terrific aroma. The other entree choice is salmon grilled to perfection with a sauce that made my taste buds dance. The sugar cream pie is the best that I have ever had and the fresh coffee set it off perfectly. A place to add to your special list of nurturing experiences.

I have only been here for brunch, and it is truly fantastic. We rode our bikes up and were able to sit outside, next to our bikes, under an umbrella...perfect for a summer morning. Between the 2 of us we split a half-order of creme brûlée French toast and a half order of the awesome biscuit, gravy, and eggs dish. Unless you're a marathoner or lumberjack, you will leave plenty full from the half orders. The full orders are gargantuan-"family-sized," really. The biscuit was wonderful, full of flavor, buttery, soft on the inside with a little crunch around the edges. Eggs were fluffy, gravy was great...plenty of sausage and a little kick. The French toast is bread-pudding style...bread and egg custard baked together with a toasty vanilla sugar topping--YUM!! Bacon was thick-sliced and meaty. Our server was pretty attentive and the other patio servers, expediter, and bus boy were also helpful. If you come on a Saturday morning you'll likely have a wait...at 10am ours was about 20 minutes. Definitely worth it for the quality of the food. They do have interesting sounding morning cocktails...if I hadn't had to pedal home I probably would've tried one.

I feel so fortunate to have found this spot thru TA on our recent KS to NY to KS driving trip. The trade-off of multiple choices for the outstanding freshness, flavor and expertly prepared dishes was definitely worth it. Three of us ordered the two entrees of the evening to share. The grilled salmon was just the way I love salmon...slightly underdone, well seasoned..with a delicious balsamic glaze. The accompanying ginger cole slaw was equally wonderful. Our pulled pork open faced sandwich entree easily fed two or three sharers. The great accompanying barbeque was unique: less tomato flavored, more fruity, slightly spicy. We also ordered pieces of of the available blueberry and Indiana sugar cream pie because of their beauty. The description of the sugar cream pie had us raising our eyebrows but we all agreed it turned out to be the best pie we had eaten in a long time. And the unique re-purposed vintage gas station into eclectic farm stand/funky foodie store/eatery just added to the very positive experience at Locally Grown Gardens. Just go...you won't be disappointed.

We go to this restaurant as a family about once every month or two. The food is great but the menu is very limited. The setting in an old gas station is very cool. The only complaint is that they keep the music, typically Regie, blaring. Some nice Jazz or classical would suit the place better.
