An amazing collection of the best western artists in the U.S. and Native American arts. Beautiful new building with great light and open spaces. Highly recommended for any visitor to Indianapolis. Just a few blocks from the Convention Center or the Statehouse.

The Eiteljorg Museum is a wonder--one of Indianapolis' treasures. By all means, when your in town, stop by. Even those with a passing interest in art will appreciate its collections. And those who are art enthusiasts will be dazzled!

The experience at this museum starts outside with a wonderful garden area from both street side and canal side. If you are driving in you can use underground museum parking that is shared with the State Museum. If you are staying downtown, walk along the canal to get there. The gift store is one of my favorite stops for Native American Jewelry in all price ranges. The festival they put on each June with artists from across the country is an event I try not to miss. The last special exhibit - guitars - was a puzzler to me though. The café has some nice food but service is slow and the prices are high.

This museum is loaded with top quality western art- Taos 7 - and sculptures by Russell and Remington.
There is a top quality guitar exhibit right now including an iPod to listen to music from these fabulous guitars - from early Spanish music up to the digital age!
Well worth at least 3 hours!
I live in Tucson and appreciate Western art.

If you want to see some amazing Native American culture don't miss this place. One of the best collections in the world. You can't help but appreciate the culture, society and sophisticated work of the First Nation people groups. Very calming atmosphere with the subtle music in the background.
