“A must-see attractration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

I am ashamed to say that we lived in Indianapolis over 10 years before we visited the War Memorial. Don't be like us! Visit this fascinating, beautiful building and you will be touched by the exhibits that honor and tell the story of our war veterans. The upstairs room is awe-inspiring.

“Beautiful Historic Building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is an incredibly beautiful historic building dedicated to the memory of those military patriots who served our country and defended our freedoms. Also incredibly...there is no charge to visit this gorgeous site!

“Must See When in Indy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

This museum is amazing. It takes you from the Revolutionary war to Americas current conflicts. There is an exhibit from Indiana's only living Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, a bust of Hitler that was taken from the rubble of his compound by a solider from Bedford, and a piece of the World Trade Center. The most impressive part of the memorial is it's WWI shrine on the top floor. You must read about how this building was built in the 1920's. The marble walls and gold inlay is beautiful. This building is only a few blocks north of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at the circle. I have lived in Indiana all of my life and I can't believe I had never heard of this jewel before last year.

“Must See! - A memorial 'on steroids'”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

The memorial's Shrine Room (top floor) is architecturally stunning. I have traveled much of the world and this room is one of only a few memorable spaces, such as Notre Dame Cathedral and the Grand Canyon. The top of the ceiling reaches 210 feet above the floor, or the equivalent of a 21-story building. There are 24 stained glass windows, 17-foot by 30-foot U.S. flag and tons of marble. Dimly lit and with places to sit, it is a fitting place to contemplate not only victory of war but the terrible cost of war in terms of lost lives, suffering and treasure.

“Impressive unexpected sight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

Took a evening trip for dinner up from Louisville, had never been to downtown Indianapolis. As we pulled in, we noticed the large monument. It was very impressive and interesting to view. Unfortunately we were unable to go inside due to time constraints but I would love to return. Anyone going through the downtown area should take a few minutes to even just take it in from the outside.
