“Remembering our past”

Very nice landmark in the heart of downtown. Relatively easy to access if you use parking facilities that are located in the surrounding blocks.

Monument has free admission. Nice views are available from the observation deck. The climb can be a workout but, there is an elevator that goes part of the way up.

The reliefs on the outside of the monument are very moving and tell the story of many era's struggles for our continued freedom and way of life!

Well worth the stop!

Showing honor to anyone that has served our country is good. I believe the memorial is in a good location.

“worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

This is actually the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial. Ascend to the viewing area at the top via stairs (about 325) or take an elevator for $2 (free to veterans). You still have several narrow stairways to climb even with the elevator, but the view is great. The War Memorial is much more than just this tower. It extends for several blocks down Meridian St, with a very well done museum with exhibits about the wars in our history. There is a section on the USS Indiana.

“Impressive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

The war memorials in Indianapolis were very impressive. Be sure and check days and times because the war memorial is not open every day. We did not get to go inside and I hated that because I had heard wonderful things about it but even just seeing the outside was very impressive.

“Climb hundeds of stairs to the observation deck or take cool elevator for $2.00”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Grand kids Zoe, Bryn and Abigail love to climb the stairs and we take elevator and meet them at the top of the city of Indianapolis right in the Center of the Circle. We went at Christmas and enjoyed an evening of fun. Beautiful view at night or daytime, One can stay at top as long as you want. Great photo ops, too. Memorial decorated with thousands of Chritmas lights amd Nativity Scene at historic church. Toy soldiers all around Memorial. Restaurants nearby like Steak and Shake, Qdoba, St. Elmo's, Bazbeaux's Pizza and on and on...Carriage rides available right at Monument, too. Nice destination.
