Owner description: Home to over 2,000 animals and Indiana's largest aquarium, this 64-acre zoo has lions, elephants and other wild animals roaming through natural settings. A special petting area allows children to touch, but not feed, the tamer animals. There's also the world's largest enclosed dolphin show and a roller-coaster for all ages to enjoy.

Going to the St. Louis zoo you are spoiled as it has no admission. Spending $60 for family to visit the Indy zoo was not worth the money. Petting the sharks and seeing the dolphins was a very nice touch and those are items you would have to pay extra for at some places. $10 for us to ride train was a joke. We would not return if back in Indy.

We visited the zoo on August 31 and man was it hot. We enjoyed the zoo we wish the desert exhibit was open but we will have to wait till next near for the renovations to be completed. So we are looking forwarded to coming back on a much cooler day to visit the zoo again. Overall it was pretty cool even as an adult I still enjoy going to the zoo.

My husband and I love zoos and we've been to a lot. This zoo ranks evenly with others. It gets positive notes in variety of "big" animals- elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, cheetas... But negative in that they didn't have a lot of the cool "smaller" animals- giant turtles, ant eaters, cabaras, etc. The park was EXTREMELY clean which was noticeably nice- and like many other have said the dolphin show was very cool. Make sure to get tickets when you come in and arrive about 30 min early to get a good seat!

The Indianapolis Zoo is nicely laid out and easy to navigate with a good collection of animals. It was a little pricy, but we were able to get a small discount (slightly more than the AAA discount) by purchasing our tickets online ahead of time. Parking was $6 per car, and concession prices were similar to other tourist locations. We saved a few dollars each by asking for free cups of ice water at the concession stands instead of purchasing bottled water or soda. We loved, loved, loved the dog show...especially the search and rescue dog and the dogs running the obstacle courses. Everyone in our group (a 12 year old, two adults and a senior) voted it as the highlight of the visit. The arctic animals and the buildings where they house the birds were also hits with our group. For a fee, you can purchase little cups of liquid food to feed the birds. A zoo employee in one of the bird buildings had a collection of food cups that other guests had left, so she gave them to us so we could feed the birds The only disappointing thing at the zoo was the dolphin show. We had been once before several years ago and thought it was excellent, but this time it was pretty lame -- lasting only 20 minutes -- and really not worth the time to stand in line waiting to get in. Overall, though, we had a great time at the Indianapolis Zoo.

One of the best zoos in the nation - fun for adults and children, educational and many areas where you can just kick back and relax while watching animals.
