We had planned to go to the gardens but the weather didn't cooperate. We spent the day going to the art museum. If you want to read all the notes with the prints and statutes it will take at least a couple of days. A large selection of painters works. Also a large selection of items from the middle ages and earlier

The outstanding collection of art makes this a top rainy day destination, but be sure to return on a sunny day to enjoy the gardens. The Lilly House, a fine example of a luxurious country home, should not be missed.

My friend and I browsed through the French paintings at our ease. Later we returned with our spouses for the Winter Lights with choreographed music. WOW!! The Indianapolis Museum of Art is always on our list of must-do activities.

We went here on a rainy day as it was listed as top place for families. I however disagree.

The elevators: they show on map all the same but then one is staff only, one garage only. And then the one you can use if you have to due to stroller-is all the way back at start. So annoying and frustrating.
And later find out you can use staff elevator to go down-but then it says Staff Only to go back up?!

Kid room:they have a smaller room with hands on stuff for kids, and this is really nice! However, this is not enough. Other exhibits are not kid friendly at all and you will constantly tell toddler or 5 yr old not to touch. And admission is pretty steep to just see the kids room for the whole visit.

Outside grounds: great to blow off steam with kids and beautiful. But-you can only exit by going back through building. I would prefer direct route to parking lot. So again-way more walking that needed with tired kids.
