While we were in Indy over the past weekend we stopped in to the Children's Museum. This place has pretty much anything for kids to do. They have a great dinosaur exhibit, along with an old stem engine train exhibit. Throughout the train exhibit there were train tables for kids to play with. Throughout the dinosaur exhibit there were tables with dinosaur figures for them to play with.

The museum throughout the day had little sessions that would discuss various aspects of science. While we there they had someone dressed up as one of the Wright Brothers and explained the theories of flight. He had little airplane models, which some of them actually flew, and explained the theory of flight in relatable terms for children.

The museum also has a huge water based clock on the primary floor as you walk in. One of the demonstrations was the explanation of how the clock worked from a scientific stand point. They explained how the basic science of plumbing allowed the clock to keep time. The clock is made up of clear water pipes with blue liquid so everyone can see the whole process of how it works.

The third floor of the museum was designed for children of ages under 5. There was a room with tons of tasks for them to complete and enjoy. They had water tables, sand tables, and block tables. They had an area for them to climb. They had a place for them to play with gears and balls. They had a music room where the children were able to play and make noise.

The fourth floor of the museum is designed for older children between the ages of 5 and 12. There was even more things for this age group to do. Again there was a much larger water table, areas of them to play with pipes, and areas for them to play with shovels and mulch. They had a maze of mirrors and lights.

The place overall was excellent. We went with two, three year olds and three, one year olds. All of our kids loved playing with all the toys and activities. I would recommend this place for anyone who has young children and looking for something to do while in Indy. The cost of fairly reasonable as well.

Was told it was awesome, so had some extra time after a wedding, paid 18.00 a person, wasn't really worth it.

Having visited the museum twice before, but many years ago, many good memories were retained. This visit left us a little frustrated by the temporary closure of several exhibits, the absence of live presentations and the lack of maintenance in some venues. My grandson was especially disappointed by the lack of an operating toy train layout, as was I. The glassworks exhibit appeared to be missing something. The mirror display used blind periscopes. Why not have them actually give a real view over a partition? I know some items must be protected from overexposure to light. However, many displays were difficult to see due to inadequate lighting. Perhaps one should look into LED lighting with motion detection. The closure of I-65 through downtown did not help the experience, since we took a 5 mile tourist detour.

We make a trip to Indy specifically for the Children's Museum about once or twice a year. We are never disappointed. Though, depending on the dates, if can be crowded, we always seem to enjoy ourselves exploring every floor. This is both educational and fun for our family.

Went with my 2 and 1/2 year old and my parents. My son really enjoyed the carosel area, and the science area, even though that area was supposed to be for bigger kids. He got pretty crabby in the playscape, possibly because it seemed a bit chaotic and crowded compared to other areas. We went on a tuesday and the museum was pleasantly uncrowded overall. He loved the train area and didn't want to leave it. I thought the dinosphere was pretty impressive, but my little man was pretty tired out by then. There were plenty of other exhibits that we did not go to as they would have been over my 2 year olds head, but we will definitely be back in a year or two as the exhibits change over time. we did this trip as an overnighter as we live in Illinois. Highly recommend, and I'm afraid this place may ruin all other childrens museums for me!
