It is a little pricey, but you'll definitely get a full day's worth of entertainment here. I'd say 15-18mos. is a good age to start the attendance there, but they are free under 2 so it is really up to your wallet. My 4 year old loves it and there are definitely more years that he has left to enjoy himself there. It is huge!

It's a neat place with a lot of stuff to see but the lines to get into some of the exhibits were not worth it. Maybe if parents actually patented and didn't let their kids run around like animals the overall visit may have been better for the money. If you have a family of 4-5 it's better to get a membership so you can go when it's not so crowded too.

This museum is built for hand-on activities that even adults can't resist. Don't forget to ride the antique carousel for me!

We had heard about this museum for several years from friends and were not disappointed when we finally were able to visit with our three children (K, 3rd, and 6th grades). We enjoyed the vast breadth of exhibits and how there were areas to interest each of our children. Having visited other highly ranked children's museums, my husband and I both remarked that this museum's exhibits were clean, in working order, and well-stocked (you could find all of the necessary play/interactive elements in the correct spots). We, also, greatly appreciated that all extras (with the exception of the carousel) were included in your base ticket price--special exhibits, shows, planetarium, etc. The free parking structure was a wonderful bonus! We did eat lunch onsite. The food was standard cafeteria fare, but we appreciated that staff was on hand to help everyone find seating during the busy lunch hour.

My 6th grader and I enjoyed the Anne Frank presentation, though that entire exhibit area was very appropriately marked as being geared for other students. As a parent I really appreciated the way that sensitive exhibit was handled. It was clearly marked on the map as well as at the entrance to the exhibit that mature subject matter was covered and may not be appropriate for children under age 8 yet parents were allowed to make the ultimate decision for their own children.

A few recommendations if you plan to visit---
1. Purchase tickets online in advance so you can avoid the ticket line. While it does move quickly, there is too much to see in the museum to want to waste time in line.
2. Plan to spend all day at this museum.
3. Get your planetarium, play, and rock climbing tickets as soon as you arrive to maximize your chance to participate.
4. Choose to begin your day at exhibits that aren't on the main floor to beat the crowds.
5. Don't miss the "end of the day parade".

My boys are 8 & 10 and loved this museum. There are tons of things to do. We spent the entire day there. The boys are already talking about going back.
