Owner description: The largest children's museum in the world urges children to dig in and touch everything as they explore the physical and natural sciences, history, world cultures and the arts through exciting interactive exhibits on five floors. There's also a theater with children's plays and live entertainment.

We went to the museum to see the frog and National Geographic exhibits, both of which were excellent. Other than that, the museum is only for children 8 and under. Our 10 and 13 year old did not enjoy anything else. Would be perfect for pre-school age.

It's OK once per year but it doesn't compare to the Field Museum in Chicago. The FM REALLY WOWed my kids. The Children's Museum is always crowded.

I often say the definition of children's museums is "it's a place where they charge you an outrageous amount to let your children play with trash". And while there's a bit of that going on in Indianapolis, it is by far the best children's museum we have visited. (my second choice of the ones we've visted is Cincinnati)

Nearly all exhibits are well-developed and are very interesting, not only to kids, but to you as well. There's a bit of forced diversity training in some of the exhibits going on that I could have done without.

We were there on New Years Eve and enjoyed the noon countdown (which happened at around 11:57?), but this could have been produced better.

Our daughter loved the Barbie exhibit, the carousel (extra fee), and the area behind the carousel which I don't think has a name. Our son loved the Egypt stuff, the train/railroad exhibit, and the Indy car. The dinosaurs exhibit is professional grade. We liked the planetarium, but the equipment didn't work right and the problem didn't surprise the operator which leads me to believe it's a common problem.

Eat before you come or bring snacks. The food court is a hot humid mess (in Dec!) and a complete disney-style ripoff. (Paid $3 for 2 small juice boxes)
