Clean, no-smell rooms with neutral furnishings. Quick check-in. Wall a/c unit too loud (but aren't they all too loud?). Good parking for a moving truck. Felt overpriced. No restaurant or bar in immediate vicinity. Easy to get to from freeway.

Stayed after a long day in Chicago! Pulled into the Fairfield at about 10pm walked in and got a room with no problem. Price was good and the service was great. Room was clean and comfortable! Overall it was a great choice to stay at this Fairfield Inn!

This hotel was just a short drive past Chicago and easy to find getting off the highway, in a cluster of other Marriott hotels and restaurants. The king suite was very clean and tasteful, with all the amenities -- microwave, minifridge, coffeemaker, flat-screen TV -- and the shower was great, nice and hot. The only drawback was the noise. The hotel was full when we were there and though the other guests were not being especially loud, it seemed like we could hear everyone's shower, conversation, etc. It wasn't overwhelming but it was distracting. Also, we were on the third floor in the back, and noise from the highway and the freight train behind the hotel was constant. We are heavy sleepers so it didn't bother us too much, but if you are a light sleeper you would not be happy.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of hotel are noisy.

Yes, the Fairfield Inn & Suites is a Marriott brand, but it is run like a Super 8 or something like that. We requested liners for the garbage cans several times to find out that the management does not want to use them anymore. That is unsanitary. In addition to that they ran out of king size sheets and there were a few days that we could not get our sheets changed and at one point they ran out of clean blankets. I have never heard of a hotel running out of sheets and towels before. The furniture and rugs are old and dirty and should be replaced.. We stayed in the "King Suite" which is the largest room that is available, however it was quite small. The highlight of our long stay (we were there for several months due to being displaced) was a few staff that were kind to us. Other than that most of the people were not too happy about working there and voiced their concerns about being overworked. They complained all of the time about the management and the poor choices that were being made. For example, laying off the people dedicated to certain areas of the hotel like the fitness center and pool area. They hardly ever had towels in the fitness room, we were lucky if it was cleaned and maintained on a weekly basis. I am not sure why the employees chose to complain to us, but there are a lot of issues with employees not liking their jobs there. Another issue is that there is no quiet time. There was a period in time when a group of people came and decided to sit outside the rooms throughout the rooms talking. We had to step over people to get to our room. When we complained the person at the desk did not see any problems with that, however the next day the manager informed us that she did talk to the parents to address the issues. All i all it would be fine for a Super 8, but not for a Marriott brand. There are some clear issues that need to be addressed. When stay at a hotel for a while you can see the true colors and it wasn't too pretty.

Room Tip: Always get rooms on higher floors for less noise.

We were on a road trip and picked this hotel to stay in because of its proximity to the train into Chicago and also because we felt it would be a safe area to use as a 'homebase' for a few days. We were not disappointed in our choice. The hotel was situated off the highway but tucked in the back of group of restaurants and other Marriott hotels. It was very quiet with a pond next to it with swans swimming on it when we were there. Easy access to the highways and train station. The staff was fantastic - from desk to maintenance - everyone had a ready smile and went out of their way to be helpful. We were given a print out by the front desk with driving directions for various points in the area which was invaluable. Theres so much nice things to say about the staff......The breakfast area, clean and well stocked, the hostess always smiling and eager to help and make sure you have just the right breakfast to start your day. The woman who cleaned our room. Couldn't believe there were mints on our pillow welcoming us into the room. The kids were delighted. And how do you thank someone for the gift of the smile she brought to the kids faces after a long day in Chicago. Walking into the room exhausted to find she'd not only tidied up the room but she'd placed the kids stuffed animals on the bed so they were facing them when they got back to their room. The pool area was clean and the staff checked regularly to see that towels were available for guests. Washer and drier on the second floor worked well. All in all a great place to stay and a place we will be returning to. We traveled over 5200 miles on our road trip. The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Hammond, Indiana was the best place we stayed in.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and were assigned a room on the top floor. Never heard any noise from ha...

Stayed several times at this hotel, co located with several other Marriott properties right off the ramp from Route 80. For those heading East to get on the Indiana turnpike, (just a few miles down the road) , a great stop and a lot cheaper and easier than hotels closer in to Chicago.
Overall - "eh" - nothing memorable, but nothing bad. small breakfast room, dated place, small parking lot and often crowded due to location
