“Great service, Very good taste of most dishes.”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Taste of food overall was very good, Enjoyed the Spinach Dip and Pork bites. Stuffed Chicken Breast (stuffed with the Spinach Dip?) seemed a little dry.
Asparagus spears were good, may have tasted better with smaller diameter spears.
Lemon Cake for dessert was very good, would try the Strawberry Shortcake next time (very interesting preparation).
Nice selection of beers and wine and knowledgable staff.
Staff was very friendly and prompt.

“Fantastic food!”
Reviewed August 5, 2012 via mobile

We had a groupon to use and had never been here. We went with another couple. We were seated in a very comfortable booth with cushion seats. The place is very small. I would not have enjoyed it so much if we were seated in one of the small square tables. There would not have been enough room for all our plates. We had hummus, pork bites, shrimp bites, portobello stack, and the temper cheese. They were all fantastic. We were explained that things do not come out in order, you might get an entree before a salad. We were okay with that. The sides came out last. Pan fried potatoes and creamed corn, fantastic! We also tried two soups, the chicken chili, and wisconsin chedder, both yummy! People complain about the price, I don't mind paying a price for fabulous food. Make a reservation! We did and lots of people came in and were turned down because they were booked.

“Tapas style restaurant with great food, service & outdoor seating”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

I thought we'd have to go to Chicago to find a quality tapas restaurant in northwest, Indiana.
Good news - look no further than Granger, Indiana and Temper Grille.

We enjoyed a Tuesday evening in their outdoor seating with 2 other couples. Ordered wine that had not yet been added to the menu (at the suggestion of our wonderful waitress, Brandy.) We worked our way through all of their appetizers. Each of us has traveled extensively so we are pretty critical about food and service....we were all pleased with our experience at Temper Grille. Loved the Brie, the stacked tomatoes, the lobster/mac&cheese. Wrapped our evening up by sharing several desserts. The strawberry shortcake was amazing!

It was a evening of sharing excellent food and conversation. The 6 of us will definitely be returning for our next time together.

“Midwest eclectic tapas, if there is such a thing..”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

Had a groupon and have been trying to get in for some time... Place is very small, 9 or 10 tables, plus a few outside. If you have the time this is the place, no rush seems to be the motto. Our waitress told us right off, things will come out when they're done, and not in the order, you order. "Plates" are sized to share and two or three people seems to be the right sharing size. So we shared, shared a nice salad, shared the soup sampler of 3 vegan friendly soups, shared a fish course and shared a fowl course. Things came, we ate, we waited, things came, we ate, we paid. Waitress said lots of people try more items, but we were full, and everything was, "ok". Very mild light cheese taste in almost everything, sauces are very light and natural and... "ok"....

“Nice Food, but 2 significant flaws”
Reviewed April 14, 2012

Food here is meant to be tapas style dining, although midwestern / american style. All in all, the food was good. We tried a number of items & they all were tasty. This included the lobster bites (4 oz. of lobster knuckles in a cheesy sauce, over a bed of smashed red potatoes), the steak bites (cajun rub steak, aioli sauce), sauteed asparagus, spinach & artichoke "dip" w/ wedged pita, and the portabella stack (2 stuffed portabella heads). Nice variety, nicely prepared. In fact, the lobster bites (not surprising, the most expensive item) were terrific (albeit, tiny). In addition, we each had a glass of the house malbec.

Here's the issue(s). First, the seating is INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. It's a small place, that they've attempted to make cozy & intimate. What they've actually done, is to make it crowded and uncomfortable. Good grief, at least make the bench cushions adequate for an adult body.

Worst of all, it's INCREDIBLY over priced. We certainly don't mind spending our money on an excellent meal. By example, over the last three months we've eaten at some great places (Michael Symon's Lola Bistro, Rick Bayless Frontera Grill & Emerils Fish House).....and our bill here was more than two of those meals & equal to the other. The food was nice (particularly by South Bend standard) but the whole experience......food, atmosphere, service.....simply doesn't measure up to those establishments. Yet, they charge that level. No, thank you....
