“Awesome family resort”
Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

It's nothing new, nothing wild, just a good old fashioned resort that still has the fun of days past. A bowling alley, great trails, wonderful dining. If your family needs constant entertainment with shows, water parks, etc, this is NOT the place for you. I have been visiting this hotel for all 29 years I've been alive with my family. My grandparents have been taking my parents there since the 50's. It's that kind of wholesome-enjoy-weather/nature/family type of place. Very relaxing.

The hotel its self is great. The pool bar closes early, as does almost every place here except for the power plant grill that has kids running in and out of it.
We were here on July 3rd. We had an opportunity to sit on the veranda and listen to a authentic big band group playing. What a treat!!

This five star hotel was wonderful, rooms clean and beautiful. Pool area was nice, and 4th of july entertainment was great. The food was terrible. If you like bar food then this is the place. They have one nice steak resturant and it was great, but the rest of the food was horrible. One time for lunch we waited for 45 minutes for a salad, and then go sick. We went to Dennys for breafast across the street to eat - very disaporinting that a hotel like this can not serve great food.
When asked if we could see the fire works from the veranda the hotel said yes, and this was not the case, so we missed out. We would love to go back, but will not because of the food.

This recently restored historic resort amazed us....from the sheer size of the hotel, the details of the lobby,( paintings on the ceiling depicting Pluto), a beautiful indoor pool , an outdoor hot tub,
outdoor pool with activity directors for the kids, very clean guest room with high ceilings, all the staff we encountered were very friendly , a nice pub , restaurants, bowling alley, spa , casino,
many other amenities....we were here for a convention ,for which the hotel provided a banquet hall large enough to handle a group of our size...very impressive.

We stayed in a suite, which was quite spacious. We brought our bicycles with us and enjoyed the bike paths. Golfed at the Donald Ross. Beautiful course. It is amazing the restoration that has been done. Enjoyed the casino as well. Sitting on the front porch is worth the whole trip. The pools are nice. The gym has excellent weight machines. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. Met the general manager and he seems like he would be a great guy to work for.

Friends of ours held their wedding reception here. Thus, we spent the evening. Great comfortable stay. The room was clean and neat! Love the hotel, its decor, and amenities. Great getaway weekend! We had breakfast at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed! We will go back!

We stayed here during a Convention which was also held at the Hotel. It is a large Resort, which means if you happen to be staying in a room at either end of it, you may have a bit of walk to get to things. Lots of great amenities, indoor and outdoor pool, gym, golf, spa, walking trails, bike rentals, Casino etc. Staff always very helpful. Our room was well appointed, including nice furniture and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was excellent. The hotel also has a beautiful veranda across the front with lots of rocking chairs.

Room Tip: You may want to request a room closer to the middle of the hotel, if you don't want to walk a wa...
