Went to dinner at Clays with my family. First impression was a quaint, old style restaurant. When we walked in my young son commented that it smelled like the pet store! There definitely was an old musty odor. Service in front was a little slow but they were busy. The waitresses were great. Friendly and prompt. If you wanted to eat healthy, the menu was lacking. Even the salad bar...iceberg lettuce, red beets, shredded cheese, you get the picture! Kids were happy with spaghetti and Mac n cheese, and my husband said the pot roast was okay. Veggies were from a can. I opted for a cup of decaf since there wasn't anything very appealing but my coffee was more like tea. Warm, brownish liquid! Kids were happy though. I felt it was overpriced for such small portions. $40 and that's only one adult meal with 3 kids meals. But friendly.

Clay's is set in an old lake cottage on Lake George. It is somewhat small and cozy. It is not too far from I-69 and 80/90 the Indiana Toll Road. Clay's is a traditional family restaurant. They have daily specials, AYCE, and are known for miles around for their pie.

We went for the weekend breakfast buffet and were not disappointed. For less than $8 plus cost of drink, we were treated to 4 types of fruit, hot caramel pecan rolls, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage link and patties, bread pudding, biscuits and gravy, hash, fried biscuits, french toast, pancakes, hot syrup, raspberry syrup, sf syrup, coffee cake assortment. I feel like I'm forgetting something but you gt the idea.

The staff worked together like a well oiled machine. They assisted each other and kept things filled and moving. It was an enjoyable meal. There is a reason this restaurant has been in the community for so many years.

The only negative I have is the parking availability for the restaurant.

This is a local "go to"! Like pie? This is the place! Love a fresh salad bar? This is it! Great homemade dishes as well!
Service is a bit iffy at times...but simply because they are busy busy busy (always a good sign..!)

Wrote this 2 years ago and tripadvisor lost it, as did some other places, like St. Croix. Great brunch, everyone got buffets, and food was delicious. The reviews begin Sept 27, 2011, so where are the ones prior to this?

A little hole-in-the wall kind of place off I-69 near the Michigan Indiana border. Nothing earth shattering just fast, friendly service and simple, good food.
We stopped to meet some friends on a Sunday mid afternoon. The place was packed with people who seemed local. That was good enough for us.
Most of their parking was across the street. Watch carefully as traffic can come upon you rather quickly.
