“Fun for kids, or the young at heart.”

I have been to the Zoo many times as a child, and I still enjoy visiting. It is a great place to go. It always brings back happy memories, and opportunities for new memories as well.

“Great Family outing for the Midwest”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a great place to see if you are passing through northern Indiana. This Zoo boasts numerous themed areas including the African Veldt, Indonesian Rainforest, Australian Adventure, and Hoosier Farm with petting area. This zoo holds plenty of shade from mature trees lining the paths and well placed benches to take a break. The botanical displays are as attractive to the adults as the animals are to the kids. There are assortments of rides to choose from. I recommend choosing the pony ride for those 10 and under (two laps around for 5 bucks) or the train ride which is a ten minute ride out of the zoo and along Shoaff Lake in Franke Park. If you are from out of town, I recommend a picnic in Franke Park after your zoo tour. There is a Gyro place next to a Chinese takeout 5 blocks south of the park at Sherman and Goshen Road that is reasonable and great. There are many spots to picnic in Franke Park. Bring old bread for the kids to feed the ducks at the duck pond. The best kept secret spot for picnics is across Sherman Street behind the overflow parking next to Spy Run Creek. Also, there is a hill next to the Follinger Outdoor Theater that is less crowded and not far from a play area where kids can burn off steam before a long car ride. Get to the zoo when it opens as it is cooler and the animals are much more active. Keepers are usually finishing up the feeding and maintenance at this time too. Who doesn't want to see a monkey fight when the food tray is plunked down on monkey island?

“Great Place for a day out in the Fort.”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a great place to spend a day out with the family. It is called a children's zoo, but I have taken my kids to zoo's all over Europe and the US and I am not sure that they offer that much more for kids...but regardless you can still have a great time. From the pony rides, to train rides, boat rides, little play areas, and interactive exhibits your kids are sure to have fun. You can feed giraffes, get close to lots of the animals, and if you are lucky the lions might come right up next to you on the other side of the wall so you can see them up close.

If you live in or around Fort Wayne, getting a year pass is a no brainer in my opinion because if nothing else it is a great place to spend a few hours. The zoo is also pretty small so there isn't a ton of walking, there is tons of ample parking, and overall it is just a nice place to spend a day in the Fort.

“Good Zoo”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

Lots to see and do at this zoo. Not a huge place, but decent size for a partial day trip and not at all bad for the money. An awesome Africa, with a less than logical skylift...but it all evens out for a nice day out on the wildside.

“Great zoo”

Great zoo. High price is totally worth it. Cool african section. You can feed the giraffes! I even got to get 3 inches from Bill the lion.
