We took our 6 adult children to supper for their birthdays upon a recommendation from our daughter-in-law. We were not disappointed. First we had reservations and were pleased that they placed us at a round table. The atmosphere was relaxed, but not too casual - feel free to wear jeans and a nice top. As we passed around appetizers and "tastes", I was able to sample many foods. All were of the best quality and flavor. You've got to try the Hot Spicy cabbage appetizer! The Steamed Vegetable Blend appy was great for those weight watchers. I ordered the Spaghetti Supreme for only $7.50 and had to take some home! The only drawback was for our "draft beer connoisseurs"; all beers were bottled, common, and rather expensive at that. I can't wait to go back to this flavor extravaganza!

We're so happy to have a decent place thats casual, but not just pizza in this area. The fetticini, pasta primivera, calzones and spaghetti supreme are all great. However the red sauces are different, not bad, just not to our liking. Italian Wedding soup is great! Garlic cheese bread dry and bland, but the breadsticks with cheese inside are awesome!!! The most fabulous thing is the chocolate mouse tort. I dont know if its made in house or not but its great. Service is usually very good. Reasonably priced food and good bar. Its a local gem!

I use to drive the 20 some miles (one way) to the original location in New Haven, that should tell you something about the food.
I will have to admit that I still like the smaller intimate feeling of the NH location.
We eat here at least twice a month and realized when you open something that is this good you have some growing pains. The food was the same, large portions, Authentic Italian food but the service WAS lacking.
That appears to be all worked out!
This last visit was the best yet the service matched the food.
Great value for the money.
Best home grown Italian Resturant in the city.

Great spaghetti supreme, I love this at this restaurant.
We love to sit in the booths which we try to reserve which we call UPTOP! If you don't get there the noise level is really bad, but the food is worth the noise if you just have to have your fix of their dishes.
Be prepared though! There is no salad served nor nice hot garlic bread to go with your meal!! Everything is extra. Your only salvation is that the portion are very generous and a half order is more than a normal human can possibly eat!!

As a family, we went to the New Haven location. Very small, very busy, a long wait, but it gave us an opportunity to watch what was being served and the portion sizes which are huge. Once we ordered, bland is probably the most suitable description. The spinach ravioli was so smothered in cheese that you couldn't find the ravioli, the spaghetti and meatball was ho-hum, the red clam sauce was too salty like they didn't rinse the clams out of the can. No salads offered, no bread, just the pasta and cheap wine. No lovin' coming from this kitchen. GFS as the food supplier fits. Definitely not a place we would return to.
