I rated my stay at the Hyatt Place as average although it was far from average..

I booked this hotel for a little weekend getaway with my two younger sisters, when we arrived the key machine was down and we had to wait 45 minutes for someone with a master key to even take is up to our room (they were very apologetic and I know this is something that is uncontrollable, so we were not upset). That night we all fell asleep roughly around midnight. Around 2am someone tried to open our door, and by "tries" I mean they opened to door (assuming by a master key) and were unable to because I ALWAYS latch the door closed for just such a nightmare occasion! When I got up to the door no one was there. Thinking I possibly imagined it, I go back and lay down. About 15 or 20 minutes later it happens again! Someone tries and fails to get in because the door is latched from the inside. Again I go to the door and no one is there! I should have called down right then but my mind is racing and I'm trying to calm down my 16 year old sister. We go back and sit down at the bed and not 5 minutes later the door tried to open for a THIRD TIME! This time I grab a weapon and head to the door and open it and step out and I see no one. I walk down the hall and nothing. So I immediately call down to the lobby and ask what is going someone tried to break in three times to our room! The girl on the other end apologizes and says that was her and we weren't checked in properly. I'm angry then and I hang up. The next morning, after being able to cool down, I go downstairs and ask to speak with the manager who seems apologetic and offer to give us that night free. ALL THE WHILE telling us AGAIN that we STILL WEREN'T CHECKED IN!! out of the probably hundreds of hotels/motels that are in Fort Wayne, we will not be back to this one.

Room was nice but had a very large sitting area, smaller bedroom, and tiny bathroom. Seems a rather backward use of space considering most travelers are there for sleep and a comfortable bathroom. Also had the famous duvets on the bed which are too hot for us. Would be nice to have a lighter blanket in the room also.

My secretary had booked me here for a business conference in town. I've stayed at Hyatt Places in other towns and have always been extremely pleased.

Unfortunately, this was an older hotel with the "Hyatt Place" name and wasn't up to the standards I had enjoyed in the past. Not sure what was going on, but the lobby was in disarray and there was no one at the front desk. Finally, a woman in street clothes came to the front desk (or what I think was the front desk - the lobby layout was odd). She said the computers were down and that she would activate my key from a computer in another room and left. They seemed understaffed and having technical difficulties. Don't get me wrong, she was friendly and helpful, but it just didn't feel right.

I noticed that the elevator needed a deep cleaning. When I got to my floor, I noticed a couple of maintenance men and several work carts in the hallway, which was a red flag for me. My room seemed old, beat up, and worn out and I just couldn't see myself staying there. My apologies for any inconvenience I caused, but I immediately checked out and cancelled my reservation. I was lucky enough to get a room at the Hilton downtown where the conference was being held, so things worked out fine.

I see lots of positive reviews for this hotel, so I'm assuming my brief experience was a fluke (or maybe I travel so much that now I'm getting picky!) Regardless, I just feel I need to share my experience.

Located right off Interstate 69 just north of Ft. Wayne, this Hyatt property treats its guests with respect, the facility is clean, excellent complimentary hot breakfast, clean comfortable rooms & king bed, huge flatscreen TV, seating area with sofa & large footstool, mini fridge & desk/work area. Affordable luxury.
