Belterra Casino Resort
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Florence
Reviewed January 12, 2010

we made our reservation online and at the time they did not have a king available. Once we got to check in which was very prompt. the lady at the desk was wonderful and had a king available for us at no problem. The hotel was beautiful, the room was exquisit! would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a getaway, Did have access to 24hr spa, we did not use but after checking it out will use next we stay, (time did not allow this stay) the casino itself, is nice, im a non smoker so it was difficult to tolerate. to get to the nonsmoking spot u have to go thru the smoking parts . we ate the at the aquarium restaurant, was very tasty but for the price we would have eaten elsewhere. overall we were very, very please with this hotel and are planning a trip to go back in a month.

We have stayed at Belterra several times, most recently this past summer. It is a very fancy hotel, all the staff is very pleasant and helpful, and the rooms are fantastic. We have never had a problem at check-in, and have never had to wait very long to check-in.

The deluxe rooms have a super large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and a small flatscreen TV !

The free valet parking and bellhop staff are a welcome surprise.

The casino is also pretty nice, especially considering it is on a riverboat. There is one small non-smoking section with slots and video poker, but the ventilation is usually good enough that the regular areas are fine. My wife hates cigarette smoke but she hasn't had any issues in the casino. The paytables on the Video Poker are also pretty good.

We have also found that you can get some pretty good promotional offers in the mail if you join the players club. There are also room rate specials on the internet from time to time at their website.

I highly recommend this hotel. The only thing I would change about it is to move it about 2 to 3 hours CLOSER to my house

The little town of Vevay, about 5 miles south of Belterra, is worth seeing. It is right on the river, the architechture on the old homes is interesting, and they have a couple of great little museums. Get a free ticket by going to the Tourism booth near the players club.

There is an outdoor pool, but no indoor pool.

I reserved our room 30 days prior, using the Belterra website. When you select your non-smoking room, the small print changes it to smoking! We were so disappointed on arrival, that we cancelled one night of our 3 day stay. We would have cancelled the whole stay, but we had driven 9 hours to Belterra. The staff absolutely refuses to accomodate such problems. They insist that they cannot guarantee patron preferences...they must not need the customers!! For us, sleeping in a smoke smelly room was revolting, and we got out of there as soon as we could. The rest of the casino is smoky as well with only a miniature slot area and no tables for players.

We had so much fun and we loved the hotel and casino. Everyone was so nice. Our room was very nice too...big and clean. We live about 3 hours north and I can wait to go back. Ate at the Aquarium Cafe and the buffet....both good. Very beautiful hotel area...casino just so-so but lots of fun!

We have stayed at Belterra several times and the hotel has always been a fairly good experience. Hotel is clean (with exception to the lampshades--housekeeping seriously overlooks these) but, would like to see them ban smoking and not use so much air freshner in common areas. More "realistic" shopping, day to day items would be nice.

The casino has been a poor experience our last few trips and may influence our decision not to return (there is nothingelse to do on the property when it is poor/cold weather). These are the tightest slots on the eastern coast and table games are almost non-existant. Two blackjack and one craps table open at a time. It was very slow during our stay and we were so frustrated with the casino that we didn't really even have a good time while there. If Belterra wants to keep their casino buttoned up so tight and prevent people from even having any fun they need to consider more entertainment options, indoor pool, something!

Was at Belterra on a promotional deal. The room provided (329) overlooked a gravel roof and exhaust stacks. There was old carpet laying on the roof outside the window.
The room was sub-par to say the least and the check-out peronnel could have cared less when I informed them of my disappointment upon leaving; which incidently I did late evening instead of staying in such a horrible room over-night. Don't go to this hotel, or if you do make sure you look at your room prior to formal check-in.

Casino was sub-par.

Ruby's restaurant (high-end) on sight was also a major disappointment. Steaks for both of us were sub-par as were the side items. server was informed but had not been trained on what to do. This restaurant is way over-rated; however it has a good bar, that's about it.

This 'resort' is not worth the trip; especially if a long drive is involved as it was for us.

My husband and I needed a quiet weekend so we booked 2 nights at Belterra. I had a wonderful time doing just what I wanted to do nothing.
The staff was very helpful during check in . Service was great in the restaurant. Cocktail waitress was very nice.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
