Probably some of the best home style cooking in the area. Served by dish or family style. The fried chicken is some of the best you'll find. Family owned and operated... It is a great place to go.

I've been coming to the Log Inn for large family get-togethers and small family dinners out since I was a child. My memories are of a warm, homey atmosphere full of bustling energy, wonderful smells and platters of delicious food. A locally owned restaurant, the pride that was behind the service and food was somewhat of a rarity even then. In the past several decades, with all the corporate buy-outs of Mom and Pop places and the chains that seem to multiply like rabbits in the Tri-State area, I wasn't sure if the Log Inn would survive.

But I'm happy to report it has and not a thing has changed from my memories. I recently held my Mom's surprise birthday dinner for 30 people at the Log Inn and everything was executed beautifully. The service was fast, efficient and friendly, even happily side-stepping several small kids that thought our private room was really a private play room. When the food came, it was plentiful and we never ran out of anything, including drinks. They gave us privacy, allowed us to bring in several homemade pies and even gave us a pie cutter and plates to use. The building, decor, and delicious smells were the same as in my memory, with old coin-operated arcade games dispersed throughout the building.

The food, though, was the highlight and it was AMAZING. Still the best fried chicken in the tri-state area, hands down, no contest. Crispy, fried to a golden crisp and seasoned perfectly-it's good enough that this vegetarian made an exception, knowing the regret of not tasting it would have been too severe. Everything is homemade-the yeast rolls, mashed potatoes, corn and peas, German fries, cake and pies-you name it, all homemade, fresh and just so, so good. If you're looking for classic, Midwestern/Southern comfort food at its best, you simply cannot go wrong here.

There may be a wait if you go on a weekend night-there's typically a line on the weekends that lasts for several hours-but the wait is 100% worth it. The hostesses and bussers work hard to get tables cleared and seated quickly, though you never feel pressured to eat and vacate once you have a table. The prices are extremely reasonable and you get large portions-easily enough to take home half. It's located in the middle of nowhere, really, but again, much like the wait, the drive is 100% worth it.

And its still locally owned. By the same family that ran it 25 years ago. Maybe that's why it's still the best around, a place that makes you feel welcome, happy and satisfied before you've even taken one bite. I can't recommend the Log Inn enough-service, food, value-all the best around!

Couldn't wait til the weekend to go out to eat. Arrived about 5:30 on Wednesday and was seated in the porch diningroom. Ordered their signature 1/2 mixed fried chicken with the crisp cole slaw and fried taters. My wife had 2 fish filets and ordered a bowl of white gravey to go along with the taters. Needless to say both the chicken and fish were piping hot and cooked perfect. The potatoes were not greasy and the slaw was crisp with just the right mix of sweet/sour. Our server, Paula, was excellent and very professional and hometown at the same time. The complete dinner was great and I would recommend the 14 mile drive from Evansville, to anyone. Don't forget they have family style with 3 or more people.

The log inn has been a fixture in the Evansville area for 100 years. They can handle a group, we went there with a rehearsal party-40 people- and were served in no time. Everyone raves about the chicken, and its good. I prefer their ham. Deserts look good, never had room.

Great place to take a group and eat "family style". Some of the best fried chicken anywhere. Love the mashed potatoes and their slaw is my all time favorite.

Prices are good and the staff is friendly. Don't go on a Saturday night, the crowds are huge. Eat early and enjoy.
