Owner description: The Mission of Wellfield Botanic Gardens is to celebrate the inseparable relationship between water and life, inspire creativity and lifelong learning, foster stewardship of our natural world, and grow community. A Brief History: The Elkhart Rotary Club conceived the Gardens as a community service project in 2002 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International. The project was officially handed over to the Wellfield Botanic Gardens Board of Directors in 2005 to begin implementation of the Master Plan. Construction began in 2006 with the first earth-moving work to reshape and reconfigure the ponds. 36 acres in size, half of which are water, Wellfield resides on a historical piece of property originally known as the “North Main Street Well Field.” The property has been a source of hydraulic energy and drinking water for the City of Elkhart since the mid-1800s. Wellfield holds a lease agreement with the City of Elkhart and is a private, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

My wife and I visited Wellfield Botanic Gardens on September 24. We wanted to visit the quilt gardens in the area even though it was a little late in the season for quilt gardens. Wellfield Botanic Gardens is a great place for relaxing. They keep it in superb condition.

I found this to be a very clean park that offers much of nature's best work on display for the public to see.

Don't pass an opportunity to visit the Well Field in Elkhart. Each season the gardens change. they are absolutely immaculate and gorgeous. There is a fee, but anything this nice would have to have a fee.

We tried to visit here but the only allowed dogs if you were a member, and to become a member it cost more money!! :( we didn't think that was very fair as we would have paid a donation if we could have done it

The gardens are beyond amazing! The vision for what is to come is even more of the beautiful, serene, and creatively sculpted gardens. As a frequent visitor, I know that they vary from season to season and also more gardens are being added each year. Do t assume once you've been there you have seen it. Art and sculptures are part of these beautiful gardens as well as Christiana Creek and ponds. A beautiful place to sit and relax, practice your picture taking or stroll around the wonderful pathways.
