This Microtel looked new from what we could tell. They may have just renovated as it still smelled "new" inside. The front desk attendant was not available when we first arrived at 430pm but with one phone call she was there with a warm and friendly welcome. We made it to our room and found the room small but nice. We had a great night sleep and the breakfast was a nice surprise...waffles, eggs, biscuits...and more! We would definitely stay at this hotel again!
Thank you for your kind review. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. I am happy to inform you that the hotel has not been renovated recently, but that we are a fairly new property. December 22 will make it 5 years since we opened our doors. We do our best to keep our property in great shape and try to keep it looking and feeling as new as possible so guests can enjoy their experience with us. Thank you for staying with us. We hope to see you again should you return to the area.
We stayed at Microtel to attend a ND football game. The commute to ND is fairly easy via the highway which offers easy on/off access. The hotel staff was pleasant and the room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast needs a bit of attention. The sausage gravy was cold and this was mentioned to the staff who immediately addressed the issue. The eggs were very bland and the breakfast selection, as compared to other hotels, was fairly minimal. That said there are a variety of restaurants around the hotel which is really convenient. The staff recommended Callahan's which is over the bridge and this restaurant was a true hit for our family. We would definitely stay here again.
Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry you were not satisfied with our breakfast selection, though I'm not sure what more you could want (especially from a 2 star budget hotel). We have 3 types of cereal, a variety of oatmeal, 3 different kinds of bagels, 2 selections of bread, a variety of yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a variety of muffins, english muffins, biscuits and gravy, egg patties, sausage links, fresh waffles, as well as a variety of fruit, not to mention coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and apple juice and orange juice. We also have salt and pepper guests can use on their eggs or gravy. Most guests find this variety more than satisfactory, and are often quite surprised to get so much from a budget hotel.
I have been staying at this hotel since they opened and had become my favorite in the area...until the last few years. There is absolutely no compromising on the check-in time, regardless if it was during a "football weekend" or not. During the week, it is usually quiet...but still no compromise. "Rooms will be ready at 3pm" ...really? You can't get me in at 2, maybe 2:30? Being the ONLY customer in sight, you would think they could get something opened up sooner... so instead of waiting, I went to another hotel, like I have done the many times before. I used to stay here a couple times per week, but no longer do I even try. I really don't think it is much to ask.
I apologize for your inability to check in early. We do our best to ensure that rooms are ready as soon as possible, and also make sure to take time to inspect rooms after cleaning before renting rooms. We can never guarantee rooms are ready before 3pm, but try our best. Even if the hotel appears to be quiet and not busy, that does not always reflect the previous night and how much we have to clean, or if we have a shortage in staffing. Our number one priority is to have guests check in to rooms that are at their best, rather than trying to rush and get rooms cleaned quickly.
