Worth the drive, great food. Atmosphere family oriented but possibly a little dated.

My husband and I have heard about the Beef House for years. We live about an hour and 15 minutes away, and thought we would finally try it. But before we went, we thought we would check the reviews. Boy were we disappointed! The reviews were very mixed. Most were complaining about the prices. Well, we know some people fuss about paying big city prices out in the sticks, so we disregarded those reviews. We decided to go anyway.

The menu has a lot of options. Although it is known for beef, we ordered a fisherman's platter. It was really quite good. It included cod, scallops, shrimp, and frog legs - fried as we requested, and tasty. The meal came with soup and salad bar. There was a very light batter on the frog legs and cod and a more crunchy batter on the shrimp. A good baked potato and their signature dinner rolls topped off the meal. My only dislike was that their water is well water that has a bit of a sulphur smell to it. It was a fine meal in a nice, casual restaurant ... Exactly what we were looking for.

Went for the first time heard a lot about through the years. Decor was a little dated, I have seen nicer salad bars at Old Country Buffet. My wife had cheesebuger, she said was tasty, "overpriced but tasty" I had a rib eye. good but not great, quite a bit of fat, some people call it marbling, but a lot of marbling. Also had fries, expected something besides shoestring Ore- Ida fries, probably cheapo food service shoestring fries. Soup was good, the rolls we as advertised, GREAT. For advertising themselves as the number one steak house in Indiana, they really miss the mark and definitely NOT worth the price. Better value at Outback Steak House

The Beefhouse restaurant is a go-to place for special events but also for a great lunch. The food is excellent in quality and variety with the homemade rolls being off the charts good. Lunch can be cafeteria style or you may order off the menu. Service is always good. The only downside may be the cost...a bit expensive for everyday meals. If you are passing thru the Covington area, you must try this place that was voted "Best steakhouse in Indiana",

Love their steaks - best I have ever had - try the New York Strip. The place is worth the drive. They also have a nice salad bar with a lot of things besides salad greens. Sauteed mushrooms are an option for the two sides you get with your steak and are good. The rolls and strawberry jam are famous and very good. I think they assume you will be too full from everything else that you will not have room for dessert which is true but if you do have room, the deserts are passe.
