A couple of friends, my husband and I had a most enjoyable one-night stay at the Ruddick-Nugent House in Columbus, Indiana. The house is a lovingly restored historic home on beautiful grounds. We cannot imagine how the owner manages to do all that is required to keep the gardens and the house in such lovely condition. The garden has a profusion of beautiful roses of many types and colors. Our room, Inez's, was most comfortable and cozy. We had a most complete and good-tasting breakfast. Our host also provided a detailed history of the house and description of his work to restore it. We appreciated his recommendation of a restaurant and were pleased we took his suggestion. If I HAD to complain, I would add that I was all set to watch a dvd (many were available) and the tv/dvd player would not play it! Overall, we give the Ruddick-Nugent House a very high recommendation.

Room Tip: Inez' room is the least expensive and it was bright and cozy. If you are not interested in "...

My wife and I stayed in "Lizzie's Room" August 27-28, 2011. Dennis and Joyce were wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed hearing about their world travels. The accommodations were homey, but had many modern conveniences, and they met our needs perfectly. It was a very nice change from the usual chain hotels. The sit-down breakfast with our hosts and the other guests was a highlight -- ample, delicious food and great conversation. We got good recommendations for Columbus dining as well. We'd stay there again if we are traveling through or near Columbus again.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Ruddick-Nugent B&B. Beautiful, stately home with period antiques and fascinating collections. The owners were delightful and are great ambassadors for Columbus. My room with ensuite bath was lovely. Many thoughtful touches to make guest feel at home. The breakfast (included) was outstanding. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy everything this B&B had to offer. The rates were very reasonable. All in all, a wonderful experience and a great value. I will definitely stay their again.

Room Tip: I chose "Lizzie's Room" which included a small balcony overlooking the front garden.

My husband and I stayed for a weekend at the Ruddick Nugent House this winter so that we could tour the Miller House in Columbus. We were so pleased with the hospitality that Dennis and Joyce offered their guests, from a detailed history of the original owners, to stories of their own travels around the world, to the well-appointed guest room, and finally to fresh-baked cookies in the hallway for all to enjoy. It was a perfect place to get away for our brief time away from home. So many small details that they offered, including egg nog with breakfast to celebrate the holidays. We look forward to returning soon so that we can enjoy the beautiful gardens that will begin blooming in the spring!

We stayed at the Ruddick-Nugent House New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time. The innkeepers, Dennis and Joyce were gracious hosts, and made us feel most welcome. The inn is beautifully decorated, and the artifacts and art they have collected from their travels were fascinating. There were other guests there and we had a great time at breakfast. W e were reminded how small this world is when we discovered they had visited our town and had met friends of ours. Breakfast was incredible! We stayed in William's Room, and found it to be very comfortable - we loved the clawfoot tub! We enjoyed this place so much, we've decided to return in warm weather and stay again!

Over the Thanksgiving holidays this year we decided to visit Columbus, IN, and were delighted to stay at the Ruddick-Nugent House where our hosts, Dennis and Joyce Orwin, made us feel perfectly at home in their restored inn near the downtown. Our breakfasts were lovely -- on Thanksgiving morning there was even a glass of eggnog at our nicely appointed place settings -- a festve beginning to the holiday season. We particularly enjoyed reading Lizzie Nugent's "memoirs", a copy of which was placed on our nightstand. There's so much history, and so much of architectural interest, old and new, in Columbus. All in all, we could not have had a better time.
